- Rolling Butterballs (Nov 21st, 2023) - Thanksgiving week in the Fall 2023 bowling showdown unfolded like a rowdy Thanksgiving dinner, complete with one team soaring to the head of the family table while another team had too much cranberry wine and stumbled face-first into dessert table. Great Aunt JoAnne Barber, our bowling matriarch, dished out this week's high game (141) and series (370) for the women. On the testosterone-fueled side of the family, our weird uncle Kent Harms unleashed a thunderous 209 for the high game, while third-cousin twice-removed Scott Thompson dominated the family brawl with a jaw-dropping 543 series.
- A Dark, Gloomy Night in the Gutter (Nov 7th, 2023) - The eleventh week of Fall 2023, the first bowling session after the time change, was just another reminder of how early it gets dark outside. It left me feeling as gloomy as the skies. I guess some teams climbed and others slipped, but who really cares when it's this dark and depressing outside?
JoAnne Barber rolled her usual high game (157) and series (398) for the woman, which is nice, I guess. For the men, Matthew Taylor snagged a high game with a 208, and Nick Kinney got the high series with a 570. Yippee.
Now, let's delve into the exciting world of bowling on these gloomy lanes, shall we?
- It was the Worst of Times, it was the Worst of Times. (Oct 24th, 2023) - Let's face it, last night sucked. I don't know if it was the weather, geopolitical concerns, not enough relaxing pharmaceuticals partaken of before crossing the state line, or Ron putting the oil machine on the "Torture Pattern" setting as a joke, but it has been years since we've seen such an off night all across the board.
- Lead Switch Halfway In (Oct 17th, 2023) - Welcome to the midway point of the thrilling Fall 2023 bowling season! Week 8 brought us some fierce competition, with teams rising and falling like pins on the lanes. And while the action was intense, it was the exceptional performances that stole the spotlight. But the biggest twist is likely the first-place lead change at the last moment of the season's first half!
In a league where female bowlers outnumber Gideon Bibles remaining in room 426 of the Magnolia Hotel in Omaha, JoAnne Barber emerged as a shining star, effortlessly claiming this week's high game with a remarkable 137, and a series of 384 for the women. Meanwhile, the men had their own standout performer, as Matthew Taylor blazed a trail with a spectacular high game of 257 and an impressive series total of 639.
- Is The Dolphin Show Over? (Oct 10th, 2023) - As the pins fell and the lanes lit up in Week 7, there were surprises aplenty. JoAnne Barber, with her impeccable skill and precision, dominated the scene, achieving the week's high game (155) and series (413) for the women, leaving all of the league's female bowlers in awe. Meanwhile, Matthew Taylor showcased his undeniable prowess, claiming this week's high game (216) and series (585) title for the men, further fueling the competitive spirit of the night.
- Sweep-a-Boo! (Oct 3rd, 2023) - This week every match ended in a sweep (in one case by the thinnest of margins), spreading out the win-loss gaps slightly and causing two teams to trade places in the standings. JoAnne Barber unleashed her inner bowling wizardry to seize this week's women's crown from a mob of fierce competitors for that title, capturing the women's high game at a dazzling 141 and a remarkable series of 389. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Nick Kinney, like a bowling demigod, left a trail of fallen pins in his wake, claiming this week's high game with a jaw-dropping 233 and an astonishing series total of 625.
- LVB: Lane 2 Pinsetter. MVB: Ron. (Sep 26th, 2023) - The fifth week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped but remains above water. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. As many speculated might happen, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (150) and series (373) for the woman. As for the men, Dustin Schmeltz continued to make his case for Sub of the Season when he snagged this week's high game with a 230, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 637. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Fin-tastic Dolphins Flip The Standings (Sep 12th, 2023) - Apart from a few weeks in 5th place in the first half of Fall 2022, Sun Dolphins have always found themselves stranded on the ocean floor. And they have certainly never had a winning record at any point in their history. But all of that changed last night, when they leapt from the waves and not only got out of dead last, they sailed all the way to second place with a 7-5 record -- their first winning record ever!
Two bowlers set a new personal best series. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (144) and series (369) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (278) and series (685) for the men. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Now Officially Average (Sep 5th, 2023) - Last week several bowlers were absent due to either travel or being the odd man out on a team of 5, but after this week everyone has finally set an average. So barring any new random subs, next week everyone will know their game results live.
This week we saw one bowler set a new personal best series, albeit with a bit of an asterisk as will be explained in a bit. JoAnne Barber miraculously picked up this week's high game (129) and series (338) for the women. As for the men, Seth Gunderson snagged this week's high game with a 209, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 579. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- Emergency Relocation Saves the Championship! (May 18th, 2021) - With the sudden sale and closure of AMF Pro Bowl Lanes just three days before our final session of bowling, we were unsure if we'd be able to finish things up properly or just call it where we stood. Luckily for the team that ended up securing the championship last night, Gladstone Bowl helped us out by offering us four lanes to use so we could finish our season! It wasn't ideal squeezing 6 teams onto 4 lanes and maybe wasn't technically legal by USBC standards since the 3rd & 4th place teams bowled on separate sets of lanes, but thanks to Gladstone's help we were able to make the best of a bad situation. And with the top 4 teams all having a realistic shot at the title, it was a championship worth fighting for!

- Tuesdays Are 37.5% Normal Again (Sep 16th, 2020) - With the bowling alley resuming regular hours this week, the Fall 2020 Mini Season is finally underway. Four teams have entered the 8-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy, as well as the equally-nonexistent cash awards since we have decided to forgo those for such a small group.
JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (130) and series (340) for the
womenwoman. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a 248, and high series was earned by Michael Gordon with a 633. Read on for all the rest of the details! - Spring 2020 Coronalicious Recap (May 4th, 2020) - Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died. Brexit. The brink of war with Iran. The Chiefs won the Superbowl. We had a parade.
- A Glitch in the Matrix (Mar 10th, 2020) - The mid-season position round is over, so we're now officially halfway done. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (199) and series (478) for the women, while Demonic Duncan Ferber earned this week's high game (249) and series (666) for the men. While first and last place remained unchanged, there was some light mixing throughout all the other positions. Of particular note, F. C. K. D. has pulled themselves out of the bottom half and finally achieved a winning record.
- The Cream Rises (Feb 25th, 2020) - The sixth week of Spring 2020 saw quite a bit of activity in the standings, as 7 of the 8 teams ended the night in a new position. And after a few weeks of Scootylicious domination, the two most likely contenders for the championship have finally floated to the top. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (190) and series (512) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (257) and series (677) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- The Scootylicious Center of a Scooty-pop (Feb 11th, 2020) - The fourth week of Spring 2020 saw three sets of action involving the number three. Three teams climbed in the standings. Three bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games. Meanwhile Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (164) and series (438) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 280, and high series was earned by Ben Spencer with a 664. The Tournament of Champions also kicked off tonight, beginning of 13 weeks of one-on-one bowling excitement! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- They're Back! (Nov 27th, 2019) - Despite it not being the most likely of the three possible outcomes tonight, See you next Tuesday! managed to clinch the championship a week early! Though it's been a few seasons since we last saw them on top, this makes the third title for this specific team. This is also the third title for Nick Kinney, the fourth for Aaron Barber, the seventh for Jonathan Vigliaturo, and then... twelfth... for Seth Gunderson. Congrats, guys!
- Just Peachy (Nov 12th, 2019) - Everything is just peachy!
- See You Next Tuesday for the Position Round! (Oct 1st, 2019) - By now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the Fall 2019 position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The seventh week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Alison Radke landed this week's high game for the women with a 190, and women's high series was bagged by Mary Clarke with a 469. As for the men, Carl Goetz and Seth Gunderson both tied for this week's high game with a 246, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 654. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- Spring 2019 Recap (May 15th, 2019) -
- All Hail the ToC Champs! (May 7th, 2019) - The Spring 2019 season draws to a close, with CICK Ass officially earning this season's championship title! But we aren't quite finished yet -- next week we will meet at our usual time to name all the award winners and hand out prize money (in the meeting room on the Finnegan's side, through the back of the snack bar), followed by 9-pin-tap fun night. The final week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (186) and series (513) for the women, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (237) and series (628) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Clinched! (Apr 23rd, 2019) - Originally I was going to leave this week's as a robo-writeup due to me having another busy week, but then CICK Ass screwed that up for me by accomplishing something I had failed to notice they could do this week: they clinched the championship two weeks early! This makes the first championship for Chantal Jacot, 6 for Ian Goetz, a staggering 13 for Carl "Tits" Goetz, and an even more staggering 14 for Ken M. Wilson (sheesh!). Congratulations to all four of you!
- Historic League Records Go Up In Smoke (Apr 16th, 2019) - The unlucky thirteenth week of Spring 2019 featured the rise of the Antichrist, who entered our world specifically to shatter a whole slew of league records. It also saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and two rolled new personal high games. Alison Radke picked up this week's high game (170) and series (424) for the women, while Satan himself AJ Hofmann earned this week's high game (279) and series (672) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- It was the best of frames, it was the worst of frames... (Apr 9th, 2019) - When we have 8 teams the Position Round slices our season cleanly in half. But when we have 12 teams the Position Round is more like the mighty guillotine, slicing off just the end while the main body remains on the slab of history. Three normal-ish weeks remain before the Championship round, but even lest time that that remains for anyone to act before the current #1 team clinches the championship outright.
- Speedy Recap (Mar 26th, 2019) - With about a quarter of the league at the Weezers/Pixies concert (admit it, Phil & Freda, we all know you were there too), the rest of us got to enjoy a speedy evening that finished relatively early. Unfortunately that didn't translate into extra write-up time for Scoot, and since he's very busy today we are going to leave about 90% of this as the computer-generated writeup.
The tenth week of Spring 2019 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (176) and series (491) for the women. As for the men, Aaron Barber snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Ian Goetz with a 643. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Week 6 RoboRecap (Feb 26th, 2019) - The sixth week of Spring 2019 saw five teams climb in the standings, while five teams slipped. Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 179, and women's high series was bagged by Monica Hufford with a 447. As for the men, Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (279) and series (747). Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Better Late Than Never! (Feb 19th, 2019) - This week a record three teams post-bowled due to illness and weather. But not, finally, all the scores are in. The fifth week of Spring 2019 saw four teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (188) and series (523) for the women, while Ian Goetz earned this week's high game (243) and series (593) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- EIGHT-BALLED UPSET!!!!! (Dec 4th, 2018) - The Fall 2018 season draws to a close, with 8 Balls officially earning this season's championship title! But we aren't quite finished yet -- next week we will meet at our usual time to name all the award winners and hand out prize money (in the meeting room on the Finnegan's side, through the back of the snack bar), followed by 9-pin-tap fun night. The final week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. - Could Next Week Include a Three-Way? (Nov 27th, 2018) - Well, this is it, we’ve nearly reached the end of the season and the championship round is next week. While much attention has been focused on the struggles this season of defending champions Serious Bowlers and the fact that they are now eliminated from trophy contention, there’s another part of this story that deserves even more attention. And that is the quiet but rapid rise of BDE. Oncedangling limp down in 7th place, BDE has firmed up into virile force that has penetrated into championship contention and could explode into a messy situation for all of us next week if a couple of other teams don’t use adequate protection. More on next week’s potential sticky situation in a moment, let’s first run through how everyone did last night…
- Week 14 Semi Robo Recap (Nov 27th, 2018) - NOTE: Scoot was out of town when post-bowling scores came in and just got back late last night, so this will remain a robo-writeup except for a few special items highlighted below.

- A Third Three Hundred! (Apr 24th, 2018) - While the standings didn't change at all tonight, quite a lot actually happened. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (188) and series (474) for the women. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a score that we'll get to in a moment. High series was earned by Kody Karnes with a 699. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- Back Half Blues (Mar 27th, 2018) - As we enter the back side of the season, we find the standings constipated with absolutely no movement. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game, and one of those two also set an inauspicious league record. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (224) and series (562) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (245) and series (638) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- It's Springtime! Why are we inside? (Mar 20th, 2018) - Upon closer observation of the actual lane oil patterns (left), it has been determined that only house balls will be allowed for the remainder of the season. In other news, a renowned scientist was brought in to study Mary Janes Last Frame's current slump, a birthday announcement was missed by Scoot, and the computer overlords have changed the outcome of a series. To find out more, read on!
- Humbowl Missing. Walling Injured. These Stories and more, tonight on Eye WITNESS!!! As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 254, and high series was earned by Kody Karnes with a 644. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- The 700 Club Grows (Mar 6th, 2018) - For most of us, last night was a bit of an off night. Only a few of us hit our averages consistently, and many of us were well below our norms. The problem might have been that Matthew Taylor sucked up everybody's mojo so he could roll his first (and this season's first) 700+ series! While he as doing that, one team climbed in the standings and another team slipped. Emily Nicolet picked up this week's high game (147) and series (369) for the women, while Matthew Taylor unsurprisingly earned this week's high game (254) and series (707) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Can I Get a Witness!!!? (Feb 27th, 2018) - A delayed fifth week of bowling saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One of the teams that climbed, defending champions WITNESS!!!, has reclaimed a razor-thin first-place standing. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (231) and series (540) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (234) and series (685) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Rolling Strong (Feb 6th, 2018) - Overall, this was the sixth hightest-rolliing week in league history. Two teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. Three bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (224) and series (592) for the women. As for the men, Michael Mead and Nick Kinney both tied for this week's high game with a 258, and high series was earned by Michael Mead with a 686. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- 2018 Is Underway (Jan 23rd, 2018) - Spring 2018 began tonight with a welcome to a few new bowlers, a defending champion team that is going to have to fend off multiple challengers, and several bowlers who forgot they were supposed to sandbag. Consequently, two bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games.
- Fall 2017 Recap (Dec 13th, 2017) - 36 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while we didn't set much in the way of records, having 10 teams brought us some new twists and turns and the largest pool of prize money (just shy of $2200) we have seen in quite some time!
- Another Season, Another Upset (Dec 5th, 2017) - For the second season in a row, a second place team made a shocking comeback at the last possible moment to steal the championship from the expected winner. And, the common element in both comebacks is Aaron Barber. Is he a good luck charm that teams will fight to recruit in the off-season?
- Beware Of Doug (Nov 14th, 2017) - There was some pretty freaking amazing rolling tonight. JoAnne Gordon rolled a new personal best series (405) and new high game (157). Michael Smith rolled a new personal best series (464) and tied his personal high game of 192. Ben Spencer broke his previous best game with a 199. Dennis Blake and Aubrey Moren were both on fire. Nick Kinney went insane with a 268.
But nobody came close to what sub / 5th-man Doug Bonney did tonight.
- Balloween (Oct 31st, 2017) - With tonight being Halloween, almost half the league was bewitched by demons and unable escape from the dark presence of Satan long enough to roll. For those of us who surrounded ourselves with sufficient garlic, silver, and holy water to avoid all of the evil, here is how tonight's games went.
- Finally, A Leader Emerges (Oct 24th, 2017) - Our position round has brought us a first in the Fall 2017 Seasoon. For the first time this season, a team has moved into first place that has more than just a 1-game lead!
- Swinging Back Around (Oct 18th, 2017) - [insert excerpt]
- Break Out The Scissors! (Oct 10th, 2017) - It's been a while since we've had to cut the scoresheets in half due to a printing error. But it's also been a while since we've had 10 teams and week 8 wasn't the position round. So how did everything shake out after tonight's massive cut-and-paste job?
- Cash Stash Lashes First With Panache (Sep 19th, 2017) - Being Lamewads, we here at Gutteralley can't claim to know what "Mustache Cash Stash" means or what the Google Image Search images that we found mean. But we do know enough to know that MCS = this week's first-place flavor-of-the-week.
- The Left Rises (For Real This Time) (Sep 12th, 2017) - The Alt-Left can now finally celebrate a legitimate claim to first place, while last week's 1st place team plummets all the way to 5th. Meanwhile, the Tournament of Champions also started up with its new 40-bowler format. Read on to see how it all shook out!
- Led By The Lefties (Sep 5th, 2017) - The two teams that feature right-handed bowlers who are bowling left-handed this season are leaving the rest of us in the dust. Have they uncovered a shocking new bowling secret???
- P.B.R.R.I.P. (Aug 29th, 2017) - Tonight our league received the worst news it has heard since the time the bar ran out of Sam Adams: PBR is being replaced with Boulevard Wheat at the bar because no one was drinking PBR. Tell that to the members of JG's Rusty Nuts, who average 5-6 pitchers of it a week. Their Tuesday nights are ruined. To find out how devastating this news was, read on...
- A Flood of Big Games Eclipses the Usual Week 1 Sandbagging (Aug 22nd, 2017) - The Fall 2017 season began with two teams' worth of bowlers absent, but that didn't stop some big games from causing some surprising upsets across the lanes.
