- Just Here for the Beer (Sep 27th, 2022) - A strong argument could be made that Gutter Alleyers were more interested in what was happening behind the bar than they were about what was happening on the lanes, as the news that two Croation beers were now available (one of which some of us have been waiting over a year to try) opened up wallets and gullets throughout all 6 lanes. The large green bottles could be found in almost every other drink holder. But in the realm of balls and pins, the sixth week saw two teams climb in the standings, while one team slipped. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (121) and series (351) for the women, while Nick Kinney earned this week's high game (211) and series (602) for the men. - A Tale of Two Standings (Apr 5th, 2022) - It was the best of teams, it was the worst of teams, it was the age of strikes, it was the age of gutterballs, it was the epoch of skill, it was the epoch of dumb luck, it was the season of Wins, it was the season of Losses, it was the spring of spares, it was the winter of despairs, we knocked down every pin before us, we had no pins fall down before us, we were all going direct to first place, we were all going direct to dead last -- in short, the second half of the current season has polarized three teams each around two diametrically opposed goals.

- Almost done! (Aug 4th, 2021) - While the standings still to unchanged in terms of team ranks, the number of possible outcomes for next week's championships has. Team 1 & Scoot's Fault are now the only two teams with a shot at the Championship, and the only hope Scoot's Fault actually has is to either sweep or win three to force a tiebreaker game. Meanwhile, though mathematically eliminated from the Championship, Team 2 has a reasonable shot at overtaking Scoot's Fault and moving into 2nd place. And if they fail at that, Team 4 has a shot at overtaking them for third! But that's enough about next week. THIS week, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (160) and series (433) for the women, while Dennis Walling earned this week's high game (210) and series (574) for the men. - Emergency Relocation Saves the Championship! (May 18th, 2021) - With the sudden sale and closure of AMF Pro Bowl Lanes just three days before our final session of bowling, we were unsure if we'd be able to finish things up properly or just call it where we stood. Luckily for the team that ended up securing the championship last night, Gladstone Bowl helped us out by offering us four lanes to use so we could finish our season! It wasn't ideal squeezing 6 teams onto 4 lanes and maybe wasn't technically legal by USBC standards since the 3rd & 4th place teams bowled on separate sets of lanes, but thanks to Gladstone's help we were able to make the best of a bad situation. And with the top 4 teams all having a realistic shot at the title, it was a championship worth fighting for!

- Groupies' Burning Balls (Apr 13th, 2021) - Sorry for the extremely delayed writeup! As for the men, Michael Gordon snagged this week's high game with a 254, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor and Michael Gordon, who tied with a 689. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Spring 2021 Starts Tuesday! (Feb 11th, 2021) - With the 'rona continuing to ravage normalcy, we are once again embarking on a shortened and minified bowling season.
This time, the same 12 bowlers from Fall 2020 (except swapping out Luke Melton for Jeremy Varnell ) have formed 6 teams of 2 and will embark on a 12-week season (rather than the too-short 8 weeks we did last Fall.)
- Spring 2020 Coronalicious Recap (May 4th, 2020) - Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died. Brexit. The brink of war with Iran. The Chiefs won the Superbowl. We had a parade.

While first and last place remained unchanged, there was some light mixing throughout all the other positions. Of particular note, F. C. K. D. has pulled themselves out of the bottom half and finally achieved a winning record.
- Repo Men (Mar 3rd, 2020) - So far this season, Scootylicious was the first team to take possession of First Place, and maintained its care for three weeks. Then last week they sold it to Pin Is King 3. But the King's coffers were empty and this week they defaulted on the loan, prompting the Bank of KLEAN BAWLZ!!1 to call in the loan and repossess the title.
- The Cream Rises (Feb 25th, 2020) - The sixth week of Spring 2020 saw quite a bit of activity in the standings, as 7 of the 8 teams ended the night in a new position. And after a few weeks of Scootylicious domination, the two most likely contenders for the championship have finally floated to the top. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (190) and series (512) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (257) and series (677) for the men. - Spring 2019 Recap (May 15th, 2019) -
- The Rainbow Connection (Apr 30th, 2019) - Last week Championship dreams were washed away for everyone exceptCICK Ass, and last night 40 bowlers experienced the drowning of whatever hope they had left of winning the Tournament of Champions. But for 8 of you there could be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, as next week the top two members of each division will compete for the largest Tournament of Champions prize in league history!
- It was the best of frames, it was the worst of frames... (Apr 9th, 2019) - When we have 8 teams the Position Round slices our season cleanly in half. But when we have 12 teams the Position Round is more like the mighty guillotine, slicing off just the end while the main body remains on the slab of history. Three normal-ish weeks remain before the Championship round, but even lest time that that remains for anyone to act before the current #1 team clinches the championship outright.
- Let Chaos Reign (Apr 2nd, 2019) - By now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the Spring 2019 position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The eleventh week saw four teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (175) and series (442) for the women. As for the men, Jonathan Vigliaturo and Ken M. Wilson both tied for this week's high game with a 237, and high series was earned by Aaron Barber with a 663. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Speedy Recap (Mar 26th, 2019) - With about a quarter of the league at the Weezers/Pixies concert (admit it, Phil & Freda, we all know you were there too), the rest of us got to enjoy a speedy evening that finished relatively early. Unfortunately that didn't translate into extra write-up time for Scoot, and since he's very busy today we are going to leave about 90% of this as the computer-generated writeup.
The tenth week of Spring 2019 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (176) and series (491) for the women. As for the men, Aaron Barber snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Ian Goetz with a 643. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- The Lava Lamp (Mar 5th, 2019) - Like the globs in a lava lamp, teams have been taking turns rising to the top only to then quickly sink back down. This week was no exception, as CICK Ass returned to the top with We Don't Give a Split bubbling up just behind, while Pin Is King and #MGAGA have cooled and sunk, perhaps to be heated back up again.
- State Of The Alley (Feb 5th, 2019) - The third week of Spring 2019 saw two teams climb in the standings, while one team slipped. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (178) and series (475) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (255) and series (629) for the men. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- The Bowler Vortex (Jan 29th, 2019) - As the nation prepared to plunge into the harsh abyss of arctic doom, the second week of Spring 2019 saw five teams climb in the standings, while five teams slipped and one remained frozen in place. Two bowlers roll a new personal best game. Alison Radke landed this week's high game for the women with a 196, and women's high series was bagged by Monica Hufford with a 461. As for the men, Russell Bingham snagged this week's high game with a 236, and high series was earned by Seth Gunderson with a 620. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- These Go To Eleven (Jan 23rd, 2019) - The Spring 2019 kicked off on an icy night (in which we were the only league brave enough to show up) with a record-breaking eleven teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy. Three bowlers didn't get the memo that you aren't supposed to do this the first week and set a new personal best series, and four rolled new personal high games. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (176) and series (468) for the women. As for the men, Jeremy Cline snagged this week's high game with a 228, and high series was earned by Conor Clarke with a 591. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- EIGHT-BALLED UPSET!!!!! (Dec 4th, 2018) - The Fall 2018 season draws to a close, with 8 Balls officially earning this season's championship title! The final week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. - Could Next Week Include a Three-Way? (Nov 27th, 2018) - Well, this is it, we’ve nearly reached the end of the season and the championship round is next week. While much attention has been focused on the struggles this season of defending champions Serious Bowlers and the fact that they are now eliminated from trophy contention, there’s another part of this story that deserves even more attention. And that is the quiet but rapid rise of BDE. Oncedangling limp down in 7th place, BDE has firmed up into virile force that has penetrated into championship contention and could explode into a messy situation for all of us next week if a couple of other teams don’t use adequate protection. More on next week’s potential sticky situation in a moment, let’s first run through how everyone did last night…
- The Voter Rolls (Nov 6th, 2018) - Last night, based on exit polling plus early returns, Bowling News Network (BNN) called first place for Serious Bowlers. Boy, are we red-faced about that one. We haven't missed a call that badly since we projected Hiillary Clinton the Tournament of Champions winner in Fall 2016!

- A Third Three Hundred! (Apr 24th, 2018) - While the standings didn't change at all tonight, quite a lot actually happened. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (188) and series (474) for the women. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a score that we'll get to in a moment. High series was earned by Kody Karnes with a 699. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Smokin' The Competition (Apr 17th, 2018) - Until last week, Mary Janes Last Frame had been suffering. They hadn't had a winning week since February 13, so it was good to see their fortunes finally turn last week. However, more noteworthy, MJ is also the only team that is consistently tripping up Witness!!!. Their 7-1 record against Witness (the only team with a winning record against the first-place team) makes one wonder how the championship might turn out if Mary Jane can rally enough in these next three weeks to reach second place in time.
Dreaming aside, let's now look at things that and more grounded in reality.
For instance, this wee Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (181) and series (488) for the women, while Russell Bingham earned this week's high game (264) and series (645) for the men. Ben Spencer rolled a new personal best series. Read on for all the rest of the details!

- Back Half Blues (Mar 27th, 2018) - As we enter the back side of the season, we find the standings constipated with absolutely no movement. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game, and one of those two also set an inauspicious league record. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (224) and series (562) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (245) and series (638) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Can I Get a Witness!!!? (Feb 27th, 2018) - A delayed fifth week of bowling saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. - 2018 Is Underway (Jan 23rd, 2018) - Spring 2018 began tonight with a welcome to a few new bowlers, a defending champion team that is going to have to fend off multiple challengers, and several bowlers who forgot they were supposed to sandbag. Consequently, two bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games.
- NOT NotContra (Nov 22nd, 2017) - With only one week remaining before the final position round, only three teams are mathematically still in the hunt for this season's championship. But a chant of "NOT NotContra" has been gaining momentum, that may or may not, have started on lanes 1 and 2 tonight.
- The Dirty Dozens (Nov 7th, 2017) - Twelve weeks of bowling are now in the books... the season is 3/4 over, and while one team has maintained a two-game lead for three weeks in a row, the top 5 spots in the standings remain too close for us to start predicting a winner just yet.
- Balloween (Oct 31st, 2017) - With tonight being Halloween, almost half the league was bewitched by demons and unable escape from the dark presence of Satan long enough to roll. For those of us who surrounded ourselves with sufficient garlic, silver, and holy water to avoid all of the evil, here is how tonight's games went.
- Swinging Back Around (Oct 18th, 2017) - [insert excerpt]
- Post Bowl Time (Oct 3rd, 2017) - Post-bowling scores are in, let's see how everything turned out!
- Who's On First? (Sep 27th, 2017) - While Mustache Cash Stash technically remains in first place by total pins, there are three teams tied for first place and a total of 5 teams that are within a game of first place. To have so many teams so close together at the top of the standings by week 6 is absolutely unprecedented in the history of our league. No, that's not hyperbole, I went through the week 6 standings of every past season and there has never been such a massive tie before by this point in the season.
- The Left Rises (For Real This Time) (Sep 12th, 2017) - The Alt-Left can now finally celebrate a legitimate claim to first place, while last week's 1st place team plummets all the way to 5th. Meanwhile, the Tournament of Champions also started up with its new 40-bowler format. Read on to see how it all shook out!
- A Flood of Big Games Eclipses the Usual Week 1 Sandbagging (Aug 22nd, 2017) - The Fall 2017 season began with two teams' worth of bowlers absent, but that didn't stop some big games from causing some surprising upsets across the lanes.
- Get Your Bowling Shoes On! (Aug 13th, 2017) -
- Spring 2017 Recap (May 19th, 2017) - 35 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while this season may not have set a lot of records, it still has a few firsts and a lot of fun moments. And the surprise come-from-behind championship win by Omaha Hambone marks the first title win in quite some time that didn't come from ne of the long-time dynasties.
- Nate Silver Predicted 71.4% Likelihood Frankee's Uncles To Sweep Championship (May 10th, 2017) - In an effort to fully understand the situation facing the league going into tonight, we asked renowned statistician Nate Silver to take a look at the numbers. Noting that Omaha Hambone would need to win an unpresidented [sic] FIVE games in a row to win the championship, and that Omaha Hambone lost three games to Frankee's Uncles the last time they faced each other, the analysis revealed a 71.4% chance of the Uncles sweeping the Hambone, and a 99.973% chance of an Uncle championship overall.
But, because November 8, 2016 exists, we all know exactly how this turned out...
- Tightening the Grip (Apr 25th, 2017) - Next week is the last week of regular season bowling, and after a season that at first seemed to be heading toward finally letting someone else win for a change, it appears the dark overlords are getting a tighter grasp on yet another victory. Just two weeks left for any of the remaining competition to make a play!
- Mopping It Up (Apr 12th, 2017) - Tonight was a night of almost all sweeps, and saw a formerly near-last-place team barrel its way into the top half of the standings. Meanwhile the formerly first-place team became increasingly frustrated with their inability to regain the lead and it cost them their most precious commodity.
