Now with less than four weeks until the Finals, the season that seemed to be almost wrapped up by a single team a little while back has been drastically rewritten. A mere four and a half games now separate the top half of the league standings setting the stage for an interesting November. Week #12's action was definitely owned by the help this week, as teammates stepped up to collectively aid their team on the pathway to victory. Now let's get into the recap...If there was ever a team to be feared... (more...)
What a turn of events! A couple of weeks ago, the season looked to be all but over with one team aiming to clinch it very, very soon. Yet, the rest of the league refused to lay down and let it happen with quite a turn of events. Week #11 was witness to quite a performance across the board as half the league switches places in the league standings. With the Finals a little over a month away, could another team overtake the current league leaders? Only time will tell...Let's face it...the last... (more...)
Week 10 is done. Over. Kaput. Now that we’re two weeks into the second half of the season, let’s figure out this one question -- true or false: what is your horniest bowling night ever? But first, hey, Freda, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In called. It’s Halloween season and they want their rainbow sherbet costume back. They also said congrats on being the only team that won 4 games tonight. To which you can thank oldest horny bowler of the night -- Phil Schroeder -- and his 588 series. Even... (more...)
Now that we're more than half way done with the Fall 2013 season, the curse that seemed to be keeping the league from rolling high scores seems to have been lifted. Couple that with a team well on their way to running away with the title way before the Finals and we may be watching a battle for second place in this second half. Bewbie Dance, led by Carl Goetz's 545 series, took their matchup against Even Brunker Than Defore 3-1 and advanced up to 2nd place. Eric Lynch threw the highest series... (more...)
Kicking off in the Spring 2011 season, our bowling community collectively cast its votes for the inaugural class of enshrinees to the GutterAlley Hall of Fame. These initial four bowlers were tasked with carrying on the Hall's enshrinement duties, promising that one new bowler would make his or her way to join them at the end of every season going forward. We are happy to say that the tradition is about to continue for a sixth time to welcome in the ninth inductee. The GutterAlley Hall of Fame Screening... (more...)
The position round officially marks the halfway mark of the league and with it came very little change, with only two teams managing to switch places in the league standings. The current leaders have moved way out ahead of the rest of the pack begging the question – can anyone stop them? We have two more months to find out.In the battle for first place, anchorless Bowltron continues to rack up wins and did so this week at the expense of defending champions Will Strike if Provoked. Led by... (more...)
Week #7 is the round each season in which every team has done battle against one another. This time around, the underdogs seemed to land some pretty solid punches against their opponents although not a single team moved at all in the league standings. Check it out...After taking the first two games behind anchor Ken M. Wilson's 648 series, Breaking Bad fell to a comeback victory from Bowltron in Game #3, allowing them to split the series after taking total pins as well. Bowltron was led by Ryan... (more...)
Week #6 is now in the history books and with it came very little in the realm of teams moving around in the league standings. While the league's overall average was better than we've seen lately, not much noise has been made at all on the lanes this season. Averages continue to be down, we're only seeing a fraction of the number of 200+ games typically rolled, and teams continue to underperform and yet come away with victories. All in all, this has been an odd season so far as we close in on the... (more...)
Because "Grand Theft Auto 5" came out and this sum bitch is dying to play it, this recap will be short and sweet.Bowltron scraped by to win 3-1 against Gutterfingers. John Boren led Bowltron with a 523 while Scott "Scooter J" Murdock led Gutterfingers with a 410. Bowltron slips one notch to 2nd while Gutterfingers falls to 6th place.Breaking Bad woke up and actually won some games this week, going 3-1 against opponents Even Brunker Than Defore. Ken M. Wilson led the charge with a 602 series while... (more...)
Getting half the league to swap places in the league standings every Tuesday night seems to quickly be on its way to becoming the norm. Week #4 brought a group of familiar faces back atop the league after a powerful performance from a man figuring out a new ball. While the overall league average is off this season (we're willing to blame it on the lack of beer being consumed due to cost increase – although sources inform us that the prices will be coming down next week across the board!),... When we first began kicking around the idea of creating a Hall of Fame for GutterAlley, I talked to Scoot about who I figured were the shoo-ins right off the bat. One of the first names that instantly came to mind from both of us was Pat Searcy. Fast forward to today and here we are, a full five seasons of inductions later, and the Hall is still just not quite right in my eyes.Pat has not yet made it in. I really, really thought he'd be in by now. Many of us did as well, including all of the... (more...)
Week #3 is now in the history books and with it came some huge output across the lanes. With the post-bowling scores now in, the full recap of what went down across all four matchups can now be reported. In the first matchup of the night, both Bewbie Dance and Breaking Bad looked to rebound after having suffering beat downs in Week #2. While Kody Karnes put up a league leading 663 series for Breaking Bad, it did not matter one bit as the Bewbies were firing on all cylinders. With anchor Carl Goetz... (more...)
Historically, Week #2 provides the wildest results as averages from the initial week are put to the test and those that did really well are battling themselves as well as their competitors. Those who didn't perform up to potential in their initial outing end up being the most dangerous to their opponents – which was the case this week for sure. To top off the most volatile week of the season, every single team shifted places in the league standings. Yes, you read that correctly – everyone... (more...)

For 32 weeks of the year, the members of GutterAlley do battle against one another on Tuesday nights across two seasons starting in August and running into May. But, for one day of the year, these rivalries are set aside and members from the various powerhouse teams unite to roll as a cohesive unit in Kansas City's Corporate Challenge scratch bowling competition. And, for the first time in a very long time, the event took place in our very own bowling alley. The day started off with the women's... (more...)

The fifteenth installment of "The 11th Frame" features some interesting nuggets from our Top 25s collection, covering the accolades (and disappointments) of our current and not so-current league rollers. As mentioned already in this week's write-up – Carl Goetz was this week's #1 Power Ranked Bowler and teammate Ken M. Wilson was the MVB the week before the Finals in the biggest "too little, too late" of the season. With the Finals coming our way on Tuesday, we decided to look into our treasure... (more...)
