Fall 2002 Week 1 Robo-RecapThe Fall 2002 season is now underway, with six teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy. Freda Schroeder and Sharon Turner both tied for this week's high game for the women with a 159, and women's high series was bagged by Freda Schroeder with a 429. As for the men, Pat Searcy snagged this week's high game with a 195, and high series was earned by Dennis Laube with a 501. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 17 & 18: Top Guns chucked gutter balls with UnaBowlers. Showcasing Pat Searcy with his 488 series, Top Guns split the series with the UnaBowlers. Countering this, Jarrod Guthrie guided the UnaBowlers with his 449 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Jason Carpio) as they matched their opponent in wins. Top Guns starts out in 3rd place, while the UnaBowlers start off with 4th.

week1On lanes 19 & 20: Pop Gunns celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with GRRR. Demonstrating the prowess of #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Dennis Laube and his 501 series, Pop Gunns collected 3 wins against GRRR. On the adjacent lane, Byron Hester called the shots for GRRR with his 471 despite his team notching only a single win. Pop Gunns leaves the gate in 1st place, while GRRR begins in 5th.

Finally, down on lanes 21 & 22: Team 5 kept grabbing the balls of Team 6. Featuring David Parre with his 481 series, Team 5 collected 3 wins against Team 6. While that was going down, Jim Jones ruled Team 6 with his 439 despite his team notching only a single win. Team 5 begins with 2nd place, while Team 6 gets going with 6th.

Bowlers who stripped naked and shared a cozy hottub together in a back room at The 200 Club include: No one at all. We sucked.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 17&18, 2nd-place Team 5 will roll against 5th-place GRRR. Team 5 is expected to tank their averages considerably, but split the series with GRRR; while GRRR is forecast to see their team average take a dive while they keep the series tied.
  • Moving to lanes 19&20, 3rd-place Top Guns will test their mettle against 6th-place Team 6. Top Guns might see their averages fall off a cliff, but split the series with Team 6; while Team 6 ought to see their team average take a dive while they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 21&22, 4th-place UnaBowlers will throw some gutter balls with 1st-place Pop Gunns. The UnaBowlers are predicted to see a pretty significant "market correction" to their averages, but split the series with Pop Gunns; while Pop Gunns are anticipated to see their team average take a dive while they keep the series tied.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
