The tenth week of Spring 2003 saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Freda Schroeder and Janelle (Laube) Lamar both tied for this week's high game for the women with a 165, and women's high series was bagged by Freda Schroeder with a 447. As for the men, Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (233) and series (601). Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 17 & 18: Top Guns kept grabbing the balls of Canned Crabs. Despite being led by Pat Searcy with his above-average 589 series, Top Guns accomplished only 1 win against the Crabs. Conversely, Eric Lynch called the shots for the Crabs with his below-average 461 (along with kudos to #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Ray Haynes, as well as #1 Head-to-Head ) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Top Guns drop 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the Crabs remain in 7th.
On lanes 19 & 20: D-Day traded lane malfunctions with When Push Comes To Shove. Although blessed by Demond Robinson with his above-average 540 series, D-Day accomplished only 1 win against the Shovers. Across the ball return, Dennis Laube guided the Shovers with his above-average 496 as his team took the series with 3 wins. D-Day remains in 1st place, while the Shovers move 1 spot to 3rd.
On lanes 21 & 22: Spanked shared a few beers with Hulk Smash!. With the strength of #1 Head-to-Head Bill Krejci and his breathtaking 588 series, Spanked celebrated a clean sweep over the Hulk. Countering this, Carl Goetz dominated the Hulk with his above-average 601 despite his team getting swept. Spanked remains in 8th place, while the Hulk sinks 1 spot to 6th.
Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: The Good Sons shared a platter of cheese sticks with Bowlers of Mass Destruction. Starring Steve Robinson with his amazing 521 series, the Sons split the series with Mass Destruction. While that was going down, Corey Weinfurt mastered Mass Destruction with his 481 as they matched their opponent in wins. The Good Sons leap 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while Mass Destruction remains in 2nd.

A new personal high game was set tonight by Carl Goetz (233, previous best 223). The 233 rolled by Carl Goetz is tied for the 8th-best men's game in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bill Krejci made quick work of Division 1, while Dennis Laube swept Division 2. Steve Robinson trounced Division 3, and Ray Haynes eradicated Division 4. In terms of overall points: Pat Searcy is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Ken M. Wilson holds the reins in Division 2; Shannon Myers calls the shots for Division 3; and Marca Robinson leads Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 17&18, 6th-place Hulk Smash! (hcp 78) will roll against 3rd-place When Push Comes To Shove. The Hulk is expected to perform well, yet still manage to get swept; while the Shovers are forecast to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
- Moving to lanes 19&20, 4th-place Top Guns will test their mettle against 5th-place The Good Sons (hcp 128). Top Guns might perform well and sweep the series; while the Sons ought to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Then, over on lanes 21&22, 1st-place D-Day will battle 2nd-place Bowlers of Mass Destruction (hcp 6). D-Day will likely roll decently, but split the series with Mass Destruction; while Mass Destruction will probably raise their average while they keep the series tied.
- Finally, on lanes 23&24, 8th-place Spanked will match wits with 7th-place Canned Crabs (hcp 112). Spanked is predicted to perform well and sweep the series; while the Crabs are anticipated to raise their average even as they endure a rough night.
