The sixth week of Fall 2003 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (194) and series (477) for the women. As for the men, Pat Searcy snagged this week's high game with a 199, and high series was earned by Jason Carpio with a 526. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 15 & 16: Gutter Minds waged a heated competition against Bowlers of Mass Confusion. Although blessed by Pat Searcy with his 525 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Deena Slinkard, Gutter Minds accomplished only 1 win against Mass Confusion. As for the opposition, #1 Power-Ranked Jason Carpio showed off in Mass Confusion with his above-average 526 (along with props to #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Deena Slinkard) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Gutter Minds drop 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while Mass Confusion jumps 2 spots to 3rd.
On lanes 17 & 18: Bowl me Ishmael! kept stealing sips of beer from Spare Change. Reinforced by Paul Linder with his below-average 352 series, Ishmael split the series with Spare Change. Across the ball return, Bill Krejci mastered Spare Change with his below-average 456 as they matched their opponent in wins. Bowl me Ishmael! remains in 7th place, while Spare Change sinks 1 spot to 5th.
On lanes 19 & 20: Wolverines hung out with Anchors Aweigh!. Even though highlighted by the skills of Jim Jones with his above-average 462 series, the Wolverines accomplished only 1 win against the Anchors. Meanwhile, Carl Goetz reigned supreme in the Anchors with his 514 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Wolverines remains in 2nd place, while the Anchors remain in 1st.
Finally, down on lanes 21 & 22: Theee Beeelt chucked gutter balls with Atomic Goo. Notwithstanding the leadership of Aaron Weidner with his 474 series, Theee Beeelt got swept by Atomic Goo. On the adjacent lane, Steve Robinson guided Atomic Goo with his above-average 487 as they swept the competition. Theee Beeelt plummets 2 spots in the standings to 8th place, while Atomic Goo jumps 2 spots to 6th.
Bowlers entering The 200 Club include: No one at all. We sucked.
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Bill Krejci came closest), while Corey Weinfurt cleaned up Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Jim Jones came closest), and nobody claimed victory in Division 4, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 4 as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz holds the reins in Division 1; Aaron Weidner tops Division 2; Scott Murdock is in the driver's seat in Division 3; and Ginger O'Reilly dominates Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 15&16, 2nd-place Wolverines will match wits with 6th-place Atomic Goo (hcp 45). The Wolverines are expected to perform well and sweep the series; while Atomic Goo is forecast to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Moving to lanes 17&18, 8th-place Theee Beeelt (hcp 100) will spend some quality time with 1st-place Anchors Aweigh!. Theee Beeelt might maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Anchors ought to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
- Then, over on lanes 19&20, 7th-place Bowl me Ishmael! (hcp 153) will roll against 4th-place Gutter Minds. Ishmael will likely maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Gutter Minds will probably hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Finally, on lanes 21&22, 3rd-place Bowlers of Mass Confusion (hcp 8) will meet with 5th-place Spare Change. Mass Confusion is predicted to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Spare Change is anticipated to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
