With the last regular night of bowling in the history books, the remote possibility of the season ending in a three-way tie has faded away. Instead, next week Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! will attempt to protect their cherished first-place position from their only remaining challenger: NotContra. Meanwhile 8 bowlers will competing for two fistfuls of cash in the Tournament of Champions championship round.
First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Brooklyn Strikers shared a few beers with Split It & Hit It. Despite a strategic use of sub Doug Bonney and his 501 series, Brooklyn Strikers managed only 1 win against Split It & Hit It. Meanwhile, Dennis Blake's 554 series, led Split It to 3 wins. Brooklyn Strikers remains in 6th place, while Split It & Hit It moves up 1 spot to 8th.
On lanes 3 & 4: The Alt-Left was challenged to a duel by Mustache Cash Stash and wound up on the losing end. Led by Lefty John Boren and his 465 series, The Alt-Left got swept by the Cash Stash. #1 Power-Ranked Michael Gordon's new personal best 700 on-the-dot series (previous best: 666), with an assist by a new personal-best 213 game by AJ Hofmann, took Mustache Cash Stash to a clean sweep. The Alt-Left drops 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while Mustache Cash Stash moves up 1 spot to 3rd.
On lanes 5 & 6: Even though Alison Radke triggered the dinosaur animation to the delight of Chadwick, Bowl Yer Ballz Off found themselves driven to extinction by NotContra. Aaron Barber and his 586 series (and Most Valuable Bowler Nick Kinney) took NotContra to a clean sweep, while Chadwick Andrews and his 427 series led the Ballz. Bowl Yer Ballz Off drops 1 spot in the standings to 9th place, while NotContra remains in 2nd.
On lanes 7 & 8: A Scoot-Less Terra Bowl met with a de-Millered Roll, Drink, Repeat. Led by Jason Carpio and his 515 series, Less Terra Bowl nabbed 3 wins from Roll, Drink, Repeat. Meanwhile, a pre-bowled Sean Simmons and his 546 series couldn't push Roll, Drink, Repeat beyond 1 win. Less Terra Bowl remains in 5th place, while Roll, Drink, Repeat remains in 7th.
Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: DB's Rusty Nuts had a rendezvous with Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Led by sub James Tott and his new personal best 490 series (including a new best game of 189), DB's Rusty Nuts managed only 1 win against Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Freda Schroeder countered with a 494 series to help Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! snag 3 wins to maintain their lead position. DB's Rusty Nuts remains in 10th place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! remains in 1st.
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Michael Mead made quick work of Division 1, while Nick Kinney cleaned up Division 2. Freda Schroeder decimated Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 4 as it was a complete embarassment. Finally, Michael Gordon (Division 1) walloped this week's Interdivisional bracket. Congratulations to our division champions! The following eight people will compete next week for the big prize! Division 1: Aaron Barber and Michael Gordon. Division 2: Sean Simmons and Dennis Laube. Division 3: Freda Schroeder and Lefty John Boren. Division 4: Lefty Carl Goetz and JoAnne Barber.
Next week the final 8 bowlers compete for the Tournament of Champions prize money. The first round will see Aaron Barber vs JoAnne Gordon (in a matchup that is certain to lead to someone sleeping on the couch), then Dennis Laube vs Freda Schroeder. Sean Simmons was originally set to roll against John Boren, but Boren will not be here next week and he graciously asked us to let the next person in line have a shot to win. So Sean will roll Ian Goetz instead. Finally, Michael Gordon will pre-bowl in a battle against Carl Goetz.
Bowlers entering The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (204,222), AJ Hofmann (213), Dennis Blake (217), Doug Bonney (212), Michael Gordon (223,257,220), Michael Mead (203,226), Nick Kinney (222), Sean Simmons (205), and Seth Gunderson (214)
Remember, if you still owe money for this season, you can pay online until December 1 or bring cash next week. And if you missed the Spring 2018 sign-up sheets, we will bring them back around each of the next two weeks.
