Thankful For a More Interesting Championship

Posted by ScooterJ November 22, 2016 Fall 2016, Week 14 View Score Sheets

In what was a very short night for everybody except the poor schmoes on the first pair of lanes, things suddenly have become potentially very interesting as we close in on the Championship round. Without warning, the team that has been running away with first place all season is finding themselves needing to fight for it. How did this happen?

First up, on lanes 7 & 8: O'Dell Lawn Service aerated, overseeded, fertilized, but failed to apply broadleaf killer to Vote JV HoF 2016. Led by Jeremy Gregory and his 581 series, O'Dell Lawn Service secured 3 wins against Vote JV. Meanwhile, led by Carl Goetz and his 636 series, Vote JV HoF 2016 could only secure 1 win. O'Dell Lawn Service climbs 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while Vote JV HoF 2016 remains in 1st -- but now by only a two-game lead. And they will be facing a challenging schedule the next-two-weeks.

On lanes 9 & 10: Stephen Hawking's Fight Club faced off against a forfeiting Split It & Hit It after Michael Smith joined the ankle injury club. Led by Michael Gordon and his 609 series, Stephen Hawking's Fight Club secured 3 wins against Split It & Hit It. Wait, just three? Yeah, just three, they all combined forces to completely chump themselves for the third game. Stephen Hawking's Fight Club remains in 3rd place, while Split It & Hit It drops 1 spot to 7th.

Flatscreens? Welcome... to the WORLD of TOMORROW!!!!!

On lanes 11 & 12: Terra Bowl did battle with Ray & Stevie. With the power of Tim Deddens and his new personal-best 487 series (including a new personal-best 197 game), Terra Bowl secured a clean sweep. Ray & Stevie remains in 8th place, while Terra Bowl moves up 1 spot to 6th.

Finally, down on lanes 13 & 14: Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! probably would have had a better night if not for the powerful pre-bowling performances of Landon Cline and trifecta-winner Russell Bingham. Led by Russell Bingham and his new personal-best 667 series, including a new personal-best and league-season best 276 game, W.A.Q.P.T.G.B.T.E! secured a clean sweep over Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Meanwhile, led by Dennis Laube and his 483 series, Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! got swept. W.A.Q.P.T.G.B.T.E! remains in 2nd place and sets their sights on overtaking Vote JV, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! drops 1 spot to 5th.

The Tournament of Champions has one week remaining before the championship round. As it stands now, Carl Goetz is locked in for Division 1 while Landon Cline and Michael Gordon are still in play. Division 2 sees Jeremy Gregory and Matt O'Dell locked in... unless Dennis Blake makes a surprise re-appearance. Division 3 still has everyone in play except JV, Freda, and Tim. Scott Murdock is locked into Division 4, with Ben Spencer and Michael Smith still in the running.

Bowlers thankful for getting into The 200 Club this week include: Aaron Barber (210), Carl Goetz (209,236), Jeremy Gregory (209,215), John Boren (201,227), Landon Cline (207), Michael Gordon (217,254), Russell Bingham (205,276), and Seth Gunderson (222)

Don't forget, all bowling fees for the season are due next Tuesday... unless you can pay Scoot or AJ cash before 12/13. You can also pay online if you log in to this very web site.

In addition, this was the last night any subs or new bowlers can be used, as none of our subs have rolled the minimum 12 games. However, because they are actual roster bowlers, both Aaron Salisbury and Mark DeVoe can still legally bowl despite being below the 12-game threshold.

See you all next week!

  FROM THE GUTTER (GUTTER QUOTE)
"Yeah. Sure. Blame it on the lane. I would."

The AMF employee picking up all our trash, to Aaron Barber, after Barber blamed Lane 8 defects for why he was taking so long to finish the 10th frame.

("Blame it on the Lane? I like that, I think we'll use it..." added Milli Vanilli, without making a sound.)
