Corporate Challenge? Owned.

For 32 weeks of the year, the members of GutterAlley do battle against one another on Tuesday nights across two seasons starting in August and running into May. But, for one day of the year, these rivalries are set aside and members from the various powerhouse teams unite to roll as a cohesive unit in Kansas City's Corporate Challenge scratch bowling competition. And, for the first time in a very long time, the event took place in our very own bowling alley. The day started off with the women's competition at 9am. With league veterans Sabrina Gray, Angie Betts, and Ginger O'Reilly lacing up alongside (hopefully) future roller Amy Stafford, the women landed a 10th place finish and had fun along the way. Sabrina led the team with her 395 series.

At high noon, the "always the bridesmaid, never the bride" co-ed team – that has been chasing their first gold for 14 years now – logged yet another silver medal after losing to the eventual gold medal winners by a margin of 35 pins. Congrats to Angela Bradford, Freda Schroeder, Bill Krejci, and Ken M. Wilson on their 2nd place finish. Wilson led the squad with a 607 series. Bradford was awarded a bronze medal for having the 3rd highest series of all the ladies – a 540 – across our division.

After winning the gold last season with Ryan Doll, John Boren, Aubrey Moren, and Neil Rieger, the men's team had a lot of pressure going in to repeat. With Neil having departed for sunny California earlier in the year, Cliff Barendsen stepped in to fill his shoes as the men's competition got underway at 3pm. As was the case last year, the competition was close throughout with five teams in a virtual tie after Game #1. Game #2 began to separate the men from the boys and Game #3 was absolute do or die with Ryan Doll putting on the performance of his life. Rolling 10 straight strikes, Doll finished with his all-time personal best score – a 287 – to secure the gold medal for the men by the narrowest of margins. Doll was also awarded a gold medal for an individual achievement as he rolled the highest series of all the men – a 679 – in Division D. Congrats, gentlemen!
