Spring 2009 Week 5 Robo-RecapThe fifth week of Spring 2009 saw five teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (202) and series (538) for the women. As for the men, Carl Goetz snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by David Codding with a 620. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 19 & 20: XXX couldn't stop undressing with their eyes the members of Rule 6B. In spite of top-billing by Rich DeYoung with his 455 series, XXX accomplished only 1 win against Rule 6B. Concurrently, Most Valuable Bowler Ryan Doll mastered Rule 6B with his above-average 522 as his team took the series with 3 wins. XXX leaps 2 spots in the standings to 8th place, while Rule 6B remains in 4th.

Brian Byfield's cross-lanes incident tonight might not have been quite this cool, but it was still impressive. On lanes 21 & 22: Turkey Sandwich spent some quality time with Sh!t, Another Season. Although topped by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Zach Frank and his astounding 560 series, Turkey Sandwich got swept by Another Season. Countering this, Cory Chorpenning took the lead in Another Season with his 597 as they swept the competition. Turkey Sandwich drops 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Another Season jumps 2 spots to 5th.

On lanes 23 & 24: WWJB did battle with Chico's Bail Bonds. Though featuring AJ Taylor with his above-average 407 series, WWJB got swept by Chico's. On the flipside, David Codding drew the spotlight in Chico's with his above-average 620 as they swept the competition. WWJB drops 1 spot in the standings to 10th place, while Chico's move 1 spot to 2nd.

On lanes 25 & 26: Chicks With Balls chucked gutter balls with No Pinheads. Highlighting the skills of Andrea Caudillo with her above-average 451 series, the Chicks collected 3 wins against No Pinheads. In the meantime, Aubrey Moren shined in No Pinheads with his 514 despite his team notching only a single win. Chicks With Balls leap 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while No Pinheads plunge 2 spots to 3rd.

Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Schlitz For Us, Splits For You took turns kicking the ball return with Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends. Led by Angela Bradford with her above-average 538 series, Schlitz celebrated a clean sweep over Wonder Friends. Across the ball return, Drew Eldridge called the shots for Wonder Friends with his 408 despite his team getting swept. Schlitz For Us, Splits For You leaps 1 spot in the standings to 1st place, while Wonder Friends plunge 3 spots to 9th.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Carl Goetz spanked Division 1, while Angela Bradford won Division 2. Chris Lewis decimated Division 3, and Zach Frank crushed Division 4. And, finally, nobody claimed victory in the Interdivisional bracket (though Deena Slinkard (Division ) came closest). In terms of overall points: Duncan Ferber and Carl Goetz run the show in Division 1 in a tie; Angela Bradford calls the shots for Division 2; Chris Lewis reigns over Division 3; and Zach Frank and Deena Slinkard dominate Division 4 in a tie.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 19&20, 1st-place Schlitz For Us, Splits For You will compete against 10th-place WWJB (hcp 128). Schlitz is expected to perform well and sweep the series; while WWJB is forecast to raise their average even as they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 21&22, 7th-place Chicks With Balls will chill with 8th-place XXX (hcp 9). The Chicks might perform well and win the series; while XXX ought to raise their average even as they avoid getting swept.
  • Then, over on lanes 23&24, 4th-place Rule 6B (hcp 99) will roll against 5th-place Sh!t, Another Season. Rule 6B will likely maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Another Season will probably drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
  • Next up, on lanes 25&26, 6th-place Turkey Sandwich will challenge 9th-place Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends (hcp 37). Turkey Sandwich might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with Wonder Friends; while Wonder Friends ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 27&28, 3rd-place No Pinheads (hcp 33) will throw some gutter balls with 2nd-place Chico's Bail Bonds. No Pinheads are predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Chico's are anticipated to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
