The sixth week of Fall 2008 saw four teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (176) and series (495) for the women. As for the men, Duncan Ferber snagged this week's high game with a 255, and high series was earned by Cory Chorpenning with a 660. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Livin' On A Spare hung out with WWJB. With top billing by Ben Lee with his powerful 404 series, Livin' On A Spare celebrated a clean sweep over WWJB. Meanwhile, Justin Wehrman guided WWJB with his below-average 403 despite his team getting swept. Livin' On A Spare leaps 3 spots in the standings to 5th place, while WWJB remains in 9th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Spare The Rod, Split The Kitty had a delightful time with Bowl Movement. Highlighting the skills of Will Jeter with his 477 series, Spare The Rod celebrated a clean sweep over Bowl Movement. On the adjacent lane, Travis Kleiner showed off in Bowl Movement with his below-average 405 despite his team getting swept. Spare The Rod, Split The Kitty leaps 3 spots in the standings to 4th place, while Bowl Movement plunges 3 spots to 7th.
On lanes 23 & 24: Is This Billable? couldn't stop inappropriately groping Ain't No Sh!t. Notwithstanding the leadership of Ryan Doll with his 513 series, Is This Billable? got swept by Ain't No Sh!t. While that was going down, Cory Chorpenning drew the spotlight in Ain't No Sh!t with his above-average 660 (with props to #1 Head-to-Head bowler ) as they swept the competition. Is This Billable? plummets 2 spots in the standings to 8th place, while Ain't No Sh!t moves 1 spot to 2nd.
On lanes 25 & 26: Dios Mios waged a heated competition against Dave and the Wingers. Blessed by Most Valuable Bowler Bill Krejci and his above-average 589 series, Dios Mios celebrated a clean sweep over the Wingers. . With the Wingers forfeiting, all Dios Mios needed to do was roll within 40 pins of their combined team average each game. Mission accomplished. Dios Mios leap 1 spot in the standings to 1st place, while the Wingers remain in 10th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Bad Newz Kennels matched wits with Chico's Bail Bonds. Starring #1 Power-Ranked Aubrey Moren and his dazzling 533 series, the Kennels collected 3 wins against Chico's. Simultaneously, Carl Goetz commanded Chico's with his above-average 535 despite his team notching only a single win. Bad Newz Kennels drop 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Chico's plunge 2 spots to 3rd.
Bowlers ducking past the bouncer at The 200 Club include: Aubrey Moren (203), Bill Krejci (211,200), Cory Chorpenning (201,236,223), David Parre (210), Duncan Ferber (255), Ken M. Wilson (203), and Kendall Kukowski (206,220,214)
A new personal best series was rolled tonight by Kendall Kukowski (640, previous best 601). Duncan Ferber nabbed this season's men's high game with his 255. Cory Chorpenning bagged the season's men's high series with his 660.
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Will Jeter trounced Division 1, while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though David Parre came closest). Andrea Caudillo shut down Division 3, and Amanda Cox Jeter walloped Division 4. Finally, Aubrey Moren (Division 2) claimed victory in this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz leads Division 1; David Parre governs Division 2; Travis Kleiner, Carter Collins, and Andrea Caudillo lead Division 3 in a tie; and Amanda Zahnweh and Amanda Cox Jeter call the shots in Division 4 in a tie.
