The tenth week of Fall 2004 saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (202) and series (514) for the women. As for the men, Nik Domann snagged this week's high game with a 235, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 616. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: The Belt Strikes Back tussled with Recreation Intoxication. Headlined by Nik Domann with his above-average 559 series, the Belt collected 3 wins against Recreation . Across the ball return, Pat Searcy guided Recreation with his 541 despite his team notching only a single win. The Belt Strikes Back leaps 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Recreation sinks 1 spot to 5th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Bowlkake hung out with A Solid No. 2. In spite of top-billing by Carl Goetz with his 616 series, Bowlkake accomplished only 1 win against No. 2. Countering this, Corey Weinfurt called the shots for No. 2 with his 528 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Eric Lynch) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Bowlkake drops 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while No. 2 moves 1 spot to 4th.
On lanes 23 & 24: Paul Hamms alternated splits with Real Ultimate Ninja Bowlers. Starring #1 Power-Ranked Mark McClendon and his thrilling 555 series, the Hamms split the series with the Ninjas. While that was going down, #1 Head-to-Head Dennis Laube mastered the Ninjas with his above-average 544 as they matched their opponent in wins. Paul Hamms drop 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while the Ninjas move 1 spot to 6th.
Finally, down on lanes 25 & 26: Die Schlag-Maschinen accepted a challenge by Ashley Razabacks. Despite being led by Jerry Krall with his 396 series, Die Schlag-Maschinen accomplished only 1 win against the Razabacks. Meanwhile, Stefan Paz showed off in the Razabacks with his above-average 517 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Die Schlag-Maschinen remains in 8th place, while the Razabacks remain in 1st.
Bowlers paying far too much for well vodka at The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (202), Carl Goetz (210,214), Mark McClendon (218,201), Nik Domann (235), and Pat Searcy (226)
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Dennis Laube whipped Division 1, while Eric Lynch rolled his ass to the top of Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Amanda Schulte came closest), and nobody claimed victory in Division 4, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 4 as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Dennis Laube calls the shots for Division 1; Jason Carpio leads Division 2; Janelle (Laube) Lamar runs the show in Division 3; and Ray Haynes dominates Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 19&20, 6th-place Real Ultimate Ninja Bowlers (hcp 63) will face 4th-place A Solid No. 2. The Ninjas are expected to perform well and win the series; while No. 2 is forecast to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
- Moving to lanes 21&22, 2nd-place The Belt Strikes Back will compete against 8th-place Die Schlag-Maschinen (hcp 136). The Belt might maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Die Schlag-Maschinen ought to raise their average even as they avoid getting swept.
- Then, over on lanes 23&24, 7th-place Bowlkake will roll against 1st-place Ashley Razabacks (hcp 139). Bowlkake will likely maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while the Razabacks will probably hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Finally, on lanes 25&26, 3rd-place Paul Hamms (hcp 72) will hang out with 5th-place Recreation Intoxication. The Hamms are predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Recreation is anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

Eric Lynch, always with an excuse for a crappy game.
