Fall 2004 Week 5 Robo-RecapThe fifth week of Fall 2004 saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Deena Slinkard picked up this week's high game (184) and series (484) for the women. As for the men, Bob Brunker snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Ken M. Wilson with a 594. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Real Ultimate Ninja Bowlers alternated splits with Bowlkake. Notwithstanding the leadership of Dennis Laube with his below-average 459 series, the Ninjas accomplished only 1 win against Bowlkake. Countering this, Ken M. Wilson drew the spotlight in Bowlkake with his above-average 594 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Real Ultimate Ninja Bowlers remains in 1st place, while Bowlkake remains in 4th.

Brian Byfield's cross-lanes incident tonight might not have been quite this cool, but it was still impressive. On lanes 21 & 22: Recreation Intoxication kept stealing sips of beer from Die Schlag-Maschinen. Reinforced by Bob Brunker with his above-average 551 series, with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Deena Slinkard, Recreation celebrated a clean sweep over Die Schlag-Maschinen. On the adjacent lane, Amanda Schulte shined in Die Schlag-Maschinen with her above-average 371 despite her team getting swept. Recreation Intoxication leaps 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Die Schlag-Maschinen remains in 7th.

On lanes 23 & 24: A Solid No. 2 traded lane malfunctions with Ashley Razabacks. Starring Eric Lynch with his 500 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Andee Weinfurt, No. 2 collected 3 wins against the Razabacks. . With the Razabacks forfeiting, all No. 2 needed to do was roll within 40 pins of their combined team average each game. However, that would not be the case. A Solid No. 2 remains in 5th place, while the Razabacks remain in 8th.

Finally, down on lanes 25 & 26: Paul Hamms celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with The Belt Strikes Back. Despite the strength of Bill Krejci with his 525 series, the Hamms accomplished only 1 win against the Belt. On the flipside, Demond Robinson mastered the Belt with his 529 (with props to #1 Head-to-Head bowler ) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Paul Hamms drop 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while the Belt remains in 6th.

Bowlers sneaking into The 200 Club include: Bob Brunker (234), Demond Robinson (203), Eric Lynch (201), Justin Strelow (200), Ken M. Wilson (224), and Thomas Lin (206)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Bob Brunker (234, previous best 226). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Andee Weinfurt (463, previous best 453).

Adding to the excitement, the 234 rolled by Bob Brunker is this season's new high game for men.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Ken M. Wilson won Division 1, while Seth Gunderson crushed Division 2. Andee Weinfurt clobbered Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Chad Green came closest). In terms of overall points: Ken M. Wilson and Dennis Laube dominate Division 1 in a tie; Nik Domann reigns over Division 2; Deena Slinkard governs Division 3; and Ray Haynes holds the reins in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 19&20, 6th-place The Belt Strikes Back will battle 5th-place A Solid No. 2 (hcp 4). The Belt is expected to perform well and win the series; while No. 2 is forecast to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 21&22, 8th-place Ashley Razabacks (hcp 436) will socialize with 3rd-place Paul Hamms. The Razabacks might have the bottom drop out of their averages as they get swept; while the Hamms ought to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
  • Then, over on lanes 23&24, 2nd-place Recreation Intoxication (hcp 3) will compete against 4th-place Bowlkake. Recreation will likely roll decently and win the series; while Bowlkake will probably hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 25&26, 7th-place Die Schlag-Maschinen (hcp 65) will match wits with 1st-place Real Ultimate Ninja Bowlers. Die Schlag-Maschinen is predicted to perform well, but split the series with the Ninjas; while the Ninjas are anticipated to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
