The Spring 2003 position round is now history, and and the championship will be on us before we know it! The eighth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (177) and series (482) for the women. As for the men, Carl Goetz and Pat Searcy both tied for this week's high game with a 223, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 611. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 17 & 18: D-Day couldn't stop undressing with their eyes the members of Top Guns. Though reinforced by Ken M. Wilson with his 518 series, with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Scott Murdock, D-Day accomplished only 1 win against Top Guns. On the flipside, #1 Head-to-Head Pat Searcy took the lead in Top Guns with his above-average 599 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Phil Schroeder) as his team took the series with 3 wins. D-Day plummets 2 spots in the standings to 3rd place, while Top Guns remain in 2nd.
On lanes 19 & 20: Bowlers of Mass Destruction deliberately ate cheese sticks in front of The Good Sons. Starring Corey Weinfurt with his above-average 522 series, Mass Destruction celebrated a clean sweep over the Sons. Simultaneously, Michelle Tollefson guided the Sons with her above-average 394 despite her team getting swept. Bowlers of Mass Destruction leaps 2 spots in the standings to 1st place, while the Sons sink 1 spot to 5th.
On lanes 21 & 22: When Push Comes To Shove alternated between bowling and dry humping Canned Crabs. Demonstrating the prowess of David Codding with his 568 series, the Shovers collected 3 wins against the Crabs. Countering this, Eric Lynch reigned supreme in the Crabs with his 506 despite his team notching only a single win. When Push Comes To Shove leaps 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the Crabs sink 1 spot to 7th.
Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Hulk Smash! had a rendezvous with Spanked. Featuring Carl Goetz with his above-average 611 series, the Hulk collected 3 wins against Spanked. In the meantime, Thomas Lin called the shots for Spanked with his 499 despite his team notching only a single win. Hulk Smash! leaps 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Spanked remains in 8th.

A new personal high game was set tonight by Shannon Myers (157, previous best 155). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Scott Murdock (479, previous best 474). The 611 rolled by Carl Goetz is tied for the 4th-best series in league history!
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Pat Searcy spanked Division 1, while Ken M. Wilson won Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Phil Schroeder came closest), and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Marca Robinson came closest). In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz and Pat Searcy govern Division 1 in a tie; Ken M. Wilson tops Division 2; Phil Schroeder is in the driver's seat in Division 3; and Marca Robinson calls the shots for Division 4.

- Finally, on lanes 23&24, 3rd-place D-Day (hcp 32) will chuck some balls with 2nd-place Top Guns. D-Day is predicted to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Top Guns are anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
