The fourth week of Spring 2003 saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and two rolled new personal high games. Janelle (Laube) Lamar picked up this week's high game (191) and series (450) for the women, while Eric Lynch earned this week's high game (226) and series (629) for the men. Meanwhile, the Tournament of Champions also kicked off tonight, beginning of 13 weeks of one-on-one bowling excitement! Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 17 & 18: When Push Comes To Shove chucked gutter balls with The Good Sons. While headlined by David Codding with his 543 series, the Shovers got swept by the Sons. On the flipside, Steve Robinson called the shots for the Sons with his above-average 426 as they swept the competition. When Push Comes To Shove plummets 4 spots in the standings to 6th place, while the Sons jump 3 spots to 5th.
On lanes 19 & 20: Hulk Smash! kept stealing sips of beer from Top Guns. Though featuring Carl Goetz with his 552 series, the Hulk accomplished only 1 win against Top Guns. On the other half of the score sheet, Pat Searcy ruled Top Guns with his 541 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Hulk Smash! remains in 4th place, while Top Guns remain in 1st.
On lanes 21 & 22: D-Day waged a heated competition against Spanked. With top billing by Most Valuable Bowler Ken M. Wilson and his dazzling 552 series, D-Day celebrated a clean sweep over Spanked. As for the opposition, Thomas Lin guided Spanked with his below-average 483 despite his team getting swept. D-Day leaps 4 spots in the standings to 2nd place, while Spanked plunges 3 spots to 8th.
Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Bowlers of Mass Destruction shared a platter of cheese sticks with Canned Crabs. In spite of the prowess of Jarrod Guthrie with his above-average 494 series, Mass Destruction accomplished only 1 win against the Crabs. In the meantime, #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Eric Lynch shined in the Crabs with his phenomenal 629 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Bowlers of Mass Destruction remains in 3rd place, while the Crabs remain in 7th.

New personal high games were set tonight by Janelle (Laube) Lamar (191, previous best 181) and Jarrod Guthrie (215, previous best 199). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Jarrod Guthrie (494, previous best 474). Adding to the excitement, the 629 rolled by Eric Lynch is this season's new high series for men.
The 226 rolled by Eric Lynch is tied for the 10th-best men's game in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bob Brunker whipped Division 1, while Eric Lynch vanquished Division 2. Phil Schroeder dominated Division 3, and Tracey Robertson got the better of Division 4. In terms of overall points: Bob Brunker leads Division 1; Eric Lynch dominates Division 2; Phil Schroeder holds the reins in Division 3; and Tracey Robertson reigns over Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 17&18, 4th-place Hulk Smash! (hcp 35) will socialize with 2nd-place D-Day. The Hulk is expected to roll a little low and get swept; while D-Day is forecast to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Moving to lanes 19&20, 7th-place Canned Crabs will roll against 5th-place The Good Sons (hcp 15). The Crabs might perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Sons ought to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
- Then, over on lanes 21&22, 6th-place When Push Comes To Shove will tussle with 3rd-place Bowlers of Mass Destruction (hcp 43). The Shovers will likely watch their averages take a plunge as they get swept; while Mass Destruction will probably hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Finally, on lanes 23&24, 8th-place Spanked (hcp 12) will battle 1st-place Top Guns. Spanked is predicted to tank their averages considerably as they get swept; while Top Guns are anticipated to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.
