This has been a really busy last several weeks so I apologize that it has take SO LONG to get this out. Here is an abbreviated Fall 2020 Recap, where you can find out who won all the individual awards that we didn't collect prize money for but they still at least matter for bragging rights. (more...) The Fall 2020 season came to a close today, with absolutely no movement in the standings as LETITSNOW held on to their season-long first place lead to clinch the championship. But elsewhere in the league James Tott snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Dennis Walling with a 612. Read on for all the rest of the details! (more...) Ben Spencer is on fire, and apparently also for hire. After two weeks of some of his best bowling ever, Ben is now already fielding offers for next season. And that's no surprise after he quadfectaed this week by earning Most Valuable Bowler, #1 Power Ranked Bowler, and #1 Head-to-Head Bowler, as well as winning his division in the Tournament of Champions. After suffering devastating losses two weeks ago, it's now mathematically possible for Let It Snow to be knocked out of first place next week. On the other hand, it's also possible for Let ItS to clinch the championship. But we don't care about next week right now, you're hear to read about this week. (more...) Read More →
The first night of the second half of the season is off to an inauspicious start by our Predictions engine, which completely botched its forecast for tonight. Pretty much the only thing it got right was that JoAnne Barber would picked up this week's high game (141) and series (405) for the woman. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Curtis Whiles with a definitely-not-predicted 600. Read on for all the rest of the details! The Fall 2020 position round is now history, and and the championship will be on us before we know it! A stagnated fourth week resulted in absolutely no movement in the standings. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (161) and series (406) for the woman. As for the men, Aaron Barber snagged this week's high game with a 246, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 617. Read on for all the rest of the details! (more...) Read More →
Our record-breaking perfect attendance streak has ended, thanks to everyone in the league whose name hapend to be Michael. But another perfect streak remains unbroken, more on that in a moment. Meanwhile, by now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the Fall 2020 position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. As usual JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (125) and series (350) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's... (more...)
Sure, it helps that we're down to a core set of bowlers so dedicated to bowling that they are risking their very lives to play, but for the first time in recorded league history we have now had perfect attendance two weeks in a row. In our second week JoAnne Barber once again picked up this week's high game (148) and series (356) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (257) and series (608) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details! (more...) Read More →
With the bowling alley resuming regular hours this week, the Fall 2020 Mini Season is finally underway. Four teams have entered the 8-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy, as well as the equally-nonexistent cash awards since we have decided to forgo those for such a small group. Well, the first season of our second 20 years sure was not what anyone expected. Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died.... (more...)
We're sure this comes as no surprise to anyone, but since the extension of the local stay-at-home order means we'd have to roll until at least mid-July to finish the season — and that's assuming bowling alleys are even in the first wave of businesses able to re-open (unlikely) — we are just going to go ahead and call the rest of this season off. At least we are making a clean break at the "midpoint" of the season so everybody got to bowl against each other once. (more...) Read More →
3/23 UPDATE: Now that we are on full-on lockdown until April 24, the absolute earliest bowling might resume is April 28. And even that is completely up in the air as the situation changes every day. We're going to wait until AMF contacts us to discuss options before making any further updates. (more...) Read More →
All previous joking aside, we do need to take COVID-19 seriously. But at the same time, during this period of so many cancellations, we don't want to take away one of the few remaining fun activities unless we really have to. (more...) Read More →
The mid-season position round is over, so we're now officially halfway done. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (199) and series (478) for the women, while Demonic Duncan Ferber earned this week's high game (249) and series (666) for the men. While first and last place remained unchanged, there was some light mixing throughout all the other positions. Of particular note, F. C. K. D. has pulled themselves out of the bottom half and finally... (more...)
So far this season, Scootylicious was the first team to take possession of First Place, and maintained its care for three weeks. Then last week they sold it to Pin Is King 3. But the King's coffers were empty and this week they defaulted on the loan, prompting the Bank of KLEAN BAWLZ!!1 to call in the loan and repossess the title. (more...) Read More →
The sixth week of Spring 2020 saw quite a bit of activity in the standings, as 7 of the 8 teams ended the night in a new position. And after a few weeks of Scootylicious domination, the two most likely contenders for the championship have finally floated to the top. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (190) and series (512) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (257) and series (677) for the men. Read on for all the... The fifth week of Spring 2020 should have seen a new first place leader emerge, but that failed to happen. However just one other team did manage quite a climb in the standings. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (153) and series (406) for the women, while for the men Ken M. Wilson snagged this week's high game with a 279, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 634. Read on for all the rest of the details! (more...) Read More →
The fourth week of Spring 2020 saw three sets of action involving the number three. Three teams climbed in the standings. Three bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games. Meanwhile Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (164) and series (438) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 280, and high series was earned by Ben Spencer with a 664. The Tournament of Champions also kicked off tonight, beginning...
