Demond Robinson is a nominee for induction into the GutterAlley Hall of Fame during the Fall 2013 season. Demond "Big D" Robinson made his debut in the Spring 2003 season and bowled a total of five seasons. During his two and a half year stint in our league, Demond won four championships – that's batting .800 for those of you doing the ScooterMath™ at home. He walked away a league champion in the Spring '03, Fall '04, Spring '05, and Fall '05 seasons and ended his career on a 3-consecutive title season run leading his team for two of those in the anchor spot. Even though he has not been seen in our league since the Fall '05 session, Robinson's name continues to remain on many of our Top 25 lists: Best Individual #1 Power Ranking Performances, Bowlers by Win Percentage, Most 200+ Games, Most 600+ Series, Most Consecutive 200+ Games, Highest Lifetime Averages, Most 200+ Games in a Single Season, and Most MVBs of All Time. He's also currently the 18th best bowler in our league's history. To put this into perspective, Demond holds higher spots on some of these lists over current Hall of Famers that have bowled in the league for 15-20 seasons...and he did it in a fraction of the time. As both a teammate and a competitor, Robinson was second to none when it came to encouraging those around him. His inviting personality in-between rolls was always a welcome distraction despite the intensity going on during close matchups. Focus, however, was the name of the game when it came time for him to step up on the lanes. In the Fall 2004 season, the league voted him as the Carl Goetz Defensive Bowler of the Season and and People's Choice for Most Valuable Bowler. They were right, as the math proved he was the Actual Most Valuable Bowler that same season.Here are a few comments about Demond from those that nominated him:

He was dedicated to his teams, whether they were destined for the championship or the one and only time they were not. He had so much dedication, in fact, that not even being in recovery from surgery would keep him from showing up for a championship game -- resulting in the most memorable champion team photo the league has ever seen. Quiet. Reserved. Consistent. Week in and week out, Demond was the epitome of each of those when bowling. A winner in every sense of the word, Demond preached not the importance of a quick start but, instead, a strong finish. I owe many of my learnings about bowling from him.Big D's presence during the majority of the seasons during 2003-2005 was felt by all as he pushed his team to the top of the standings with a face mask and a smile. He's one of a small elite group that can lay claim to have won the title three times in a row. While I doubt that many in the league these days will remember Demond, the Hall of Fame needs to add this man into its hallowed halls nonetheless.
