Nominee – Phil Schroeder

Phil Schroeder is a nominee for induction into the GutterAlley Hall of Fame during the Spring 2012 season.Making his debut in the Fall 2000 season, Phil has bowled nearly continuously ever since — missing only the Fall 2004 season. Three times, Phil and team have come out on top: Spring 2002, Spring 2008, and Fall 2011. In his most recent championship, his team was tied for the second-best win record in league history (49-15) and maintained a comfortable lead for most of the season.Among his accomplishments, Phil is tied for the second most MVB nods (9), tied for most MVB runner-up mentions (14), and has earned 8 #1 Power Rankings. He is ranked 3rd for both handing out the most sweeps and for the most games won by any bowler. During the Fall 2002 session, Phil was the runner-up for Cumulative Power Ranked bowler. He also won the Spring 2010 Tournament of Champions.Though a perennial member of a team everyone tries to topple, Phil is widely regarded as a good sport and a lovable guy. How he has not won the Bob Brunker Good Sportsmanship Award is a genuine mystery that has baffled many of us for years. A quirky Phil fact: The most commonly rolled bowling score in our league is 158 -- a score which has been rolled 358 times as of this writing. Phil leads the league in hitting this score. In fact, if it were not for Phil, the most common score in our league would be a full 20 pins lower, at 138.Here are a few comments about Phil from those that nominated him:

[He has] a great attitude that makes him fun to have on a team and enjoyable as an opponent. He has won more games than any other members of the current Hall, with the exception of Ken. Phil perfectly balances wanting to win with being a great sport. It's a legitimate surprise for me to find out that he's never won the Bob Brunker Good Sportsmanship Award and if there is someone that should, it's Phil. He's not one of the top power bowlers, but he has come through for his team repeatedly. He is always nice and a team player. His nickname should be "The Smiling Destroyer". Very cool dude. His team destroyed us and it was because of the old school talent Phil brought to the table.

The GutterAlley Hall of Fame Screening Committee is proud to put Phil up for enshrinement.
