You can always tell when the Royals are playing -- every team that has people related to Freda on it has absent bowlers. Bowling went quickly for most, though we can't report on everything until Fallop Ian post-bowls. UPDATE! All scores are now in.First up among those matchups we can talk about, on lanes 41 & 42: Bowies In Space hoped to continue to hold onto their framed photo of David Bowie as The Goblin King. Despite a massive 615 series by Michael Mead, however, Bowie was only able to get one very narrow win against the non-Royals-game-attending half of Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Aubrey Moren pulled out a 619 series with the help of a great first game by Dennis Laube to grab 3 wins. Bowies In Space drops 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! moves up 1 spot to 2nd. And Aaron Barber readies another framed photo for next week.
On lanes 43 & 44: 404: Team Name Not Found decided they've been slumping enough lately, so rolled a new two-season high team game of 698 in game 3. Combining that with a 593 series by Sean Simmons (including a personal best 224) that has him at least tentatively winning out trifecta below, Team Name Not Found pulled off 3 wins against Bowlgasmic. But don't go thinking Bowlgasmic rolled over... not with Kody Karnes rolling a 661 series, and finally breaking the 257 tie for High Game Scratch this season with his 259 game 3. 404: Team Name Not Found climbs 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while Bowlgasmic drops 1 spot to 6th.
Unfortunately for Kody, just days later a post-bowling Carl Goetz was mean and took Kody's new accomplishment away. On 45 & 46: Split It & Hit It faced off against a time-shifted Fallop Ian. Led by Russell Bingham and his 600 series, Split It & Hit It managed only 1 win against Fallop Ian. Meanwhile, led by Carl Goetz and his 682 series, including an even NEWER high score for the season of 265, Fallop Ian secured 3 wins. Split It & Hit It remains in 7th place, while Fallop Ian remains in 1st.
Finally, down on lanes 47 & 48, the most entertaining matchup of the evening saw Glory Bowl and Split Sisters taunt each other with celebration dances they had been rehearsing all day -- leaving sub Greg Middleton befuddled and perhaps wondering if he ever wants to come back. Andrew Finger dominated the Glory Bowl with a 520 series, but only managed only 1 win... by 1 pin... against Split Sisters. Sub Greg Middleton topped the Sisters with a 487 series, but we're also starting to wonder if Leslie Patton is playing a long con now that she's starting to roll games 50+ pins over average fairly regularly. Split Sisters moves into double-digit victories with their 3 wins. Glory Bowl remains in 4th place, while Split Sisters remains in 8th.
