By now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the Fall 2003 position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The seventh week saw three teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Marca Robinson landed this week's high game for the women with a 156, and women's high series was bagged by Angela Bradford with a 401. As for the men, David Codding earned this week's high game (268) and series (601). Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 15 & 16: Wolverines shared a few beers with Atomic Goo. Although topped by Thomas Lin with his 469 series, the Wolverines got swept by Atomic Goo. Conversely, Steve Robinson guided Atomic Goo with his above-average 500 as they swept the competition. Wolverines drop 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while Atomic Goo jumps 2 spots to 4th.
On lanes 17 & 18: Theee Beeelt entered a showdown to the death with Anchors Aweigh!. Despite the strength of Aaron Weidner with his 465 series, Theee Beeelt accomplished only 1 win against the Anchors. Countering this, David Codding took the lead in the Anchors with his above-average 601 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Theee Beeelt remains in 8th place, while the Anchors remain in 1st.
On lanes 19 & 20: Bowl me Ishmael! matched wits with Gutter Minds. Blessed by #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Michael Basham and his spectacular 427 series, Ishmael celebrated a clean sweep over Gutter Minds. In the midst of this, Pat Searcy drew the spotlight in Gutter Minds with his above-average 581 despite his team getting swept. Bowl me Ishmael! leaps 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Gutter Minds plunge 3 spots to 7th.
Finally, down on lanes 21 & 22: Bowlers of Mass Confusion celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with Spare Change. Reinforced by #1 Head-to-Head Jason Carpio and his above-average 550 series, Mass Confusion collected 3 wins against Spare Change. On the other side, Bill Krejci reigned supreme in Spare Change with his below-average 472 despite his team notching only a single win. Bowlers of Mass Confusion leaps 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Spare Change remains in 5th.
Bowlers ducking past the bouncer at The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (207), David Codding (268), and Pat Searcy (222)
A new personal high game was set tonight by David Codding (268, previous best 256). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Jason Carpio (550, previous best 538).
Adding to the excitement, the 268 rolled by David Codding is this season's new high game for men.
DAVID CODDING SET THE NEW ALL-TIME HIGH GAME WITH HIS 268! CONGRATULATIONS!
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Carl Goetz came closest), while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though Steve Robinson came closest). Phil Schroeder eradicated Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 4 as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz dominates Division 1; Aaron Weidner and Steve Robinson run the show in Division 2 in a tie; Scott Murdock governs Division 3; and Ginger O'Reilly leads Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 15&16, 1st-place Anchors Aweigh! will throw some gutter balls with 2nd-place Bowlers of Mass Confusion (hcp 72). The Anchors are expected to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Mass Confusion is forecast to raise their average even as they avoid getting swept.
- Moving to lanes 17&18, 3rd-place Wolverines will spend some quality time with 4th-place Atomic Goo (hcp 36). The Wolverines might perform well and sweep the series; while Atomic Goo ought to raise their average even as they endure a rough night.
- Then, over on lanes 19&20, 5th-place Spare Change will match wits with 6th-place Bowl me Ishmael! (hcp 113). Spare Change will likely maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Ishmael will probably hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Finally, on lanes 21&22, 7th-place Gutter Minds will share a couple of pitchers with 8th-place Theee Beeelt (hcp 64). Gutter Minds are predicted to perform well, but split the series with Theee Beeelt; while Theee Beeelt is anticipated to raise their average while they keep the series tied.
