The Timth week of Spring 2025 was nothing short of electrifying. One team clawed their way up the standings ladder, while another took a tumble. A bowler soared to a new personal best series, and also notched a fresh high game. JoAnne Barber claimed this week's high game (145) and series (405) for the women, while among the men, Dennis Walling brought the thunder with a 237 high game, and Matthew Taylor crushed it with a high series of 572. The tension was high, the stakes even higher—read on for the dramatic details!
First up, on lanes 1 & 2: FILPB. It was all systems go for Team Name Loading, who downloaded a dominant performance and uploaded a clean sweep over Eff It. Powered by AJ Hofmann's strikingly strong 559 series and the ever-unstoppable #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Tim Deddens, the team couldn't contain their excitement as win after win hit the scoreboard. “We’re not just loading anymore,” said Deddens. “We’re locked, loaded, and lethal.” Meanwhile, Aaron Barber valiantly led the charge for Eff It with a solid 540 series, but the crushing reality of a 0-4 loss left the team stunned and demoralized.
holds tight in 2nd place, while Eff It, despite the blow, still clings to 1st thanks to Total Pins.
On lanes 3 & 4: Bowls Deep found themselves down on their luck on Squid Row. Despite an inspiring 552 series from Ian Estey, Bowls Deep found themselves drowning in disappointment as Squid Row unleashed an all-out inkstorm. With #1 Head-to-Head Matthew Taylor and his monstrous 572 series steering the ship, Squid Row swept the lanes clean—and the celebration was as electric as a calamari cook-off. The taste of victory was sweet, and Squid Row was elated. Bowls Deep, however, was left reeling from the sweep, still anchored in 4th place, as Squid Row stays solid in 3rd. “We’ve got the talent,” said Estey. “We just need the spark. And maybe some dry shoes.”
Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: FFK Gutterly Hopeless. The fur flew as FFK—aka the Ferocious Feline Kittens (not really, but we'll roll with it)—scratched and clawed but ultimately got declawed in a clean sweep at the paws of Gutterly Hopeless. Nathan Burrows tried to hold the line with a 427 series, but the Kittens just couldn’t land on their feet. On the flip side, JoAnne Barber rose like a phoenix with a red-hot 405 series, helping Hopeless live up to anything but their name. Their thrilling sweep had them howling with joy as they leapt up one spot in the standings to 5th. “We’re no longer Gutterly Hopeless,” joked Barber. “We’re Gutterly Ruthless!” Meanwhile, a heartbroken FFK tumbles down to 6th and gave their new stuffed kitten to a foster until they are better able to take care of it.
As we roll into Week 11, tensions are higher than ever. Can Eff It recover and protect their top spot? Will Team Name Loading continue tloading victories? And can FFK claw their way out of the cellar? Stay tuned—because the lanes never lie, and the drama is just heating up
Bowlers who crashed the party at The 200 Club include: Dennis Walling (237), Ian Estey (209), Matthew Taylor (209), Seth Gunderson (216), and Tim Deddens (204)
A new personal high game was set tonight by Tim Deddens (204, previous best 194). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Tim Deddens (491, previous best 487).
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Matthew Taylor shut down Division 1, while Dennis Walling staked a claim for the Iron Throne in Division 2. JoAnne Barber crushed Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Brian Schaben came closest). In terms of overall points: Ian Estey leads Division 1; Scott Lawson governs Division 2; Tim Deddens dominates Division 3; and Brian Schaben tops Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 1&2, 6th-place FFK will hang out with 4th-place Bowls Deep (hcp 18). Kittens are expected to maintain their current strength as they and split the series with DEEEEEEP; while DEEEEEEP is forecast to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
- Moving to lanes 3&4, 5th-place Gutterly Hopeless (hcp 124) will battle 1st-place FILPB. Hopeless might roll a little low and get swept; while Eff It ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place
(hcp 63) will throw some gutter balls with 3rd-place Squid Row. Team Name Loading is predicted to roll decently and win the series; while Squid is anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
