Two Weeks Notice

Posted by ScooterJ April 26, 2022 Spring 2022, Week 14 View Score Sheets

Only two weeks remain in the Spring 2022 season! And, adding a little drama at this late point, a standings change happened amomng the top three teams. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (146) and series (414) for the women. As for the men, Seth Gunderson snagged this week's high game with a 208, and high series was earned by Ian Goetz with a 581. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Half of Going, Going, BALD! enjoyed their favorite lanes and pins with 3/4 of The Wally McWallingtons. Emboldened by Dennis Walling with his 559 series, Baldness collected 2.5 wins against The McWallingtons. In the meantime, AJ Hofmann with his 460 series ruled The McWallingtons despite his team losing the matchup with only 1.5 victories. Going, Going, BALD! drops 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while The McWallingtons remain in 5th.

On lanes 3 & 4: With the narrowest of handicaps, Glory Bowl showed no mercy to Flamboyant Fluffykins. Charging into the fray behind Brett Affolter with his 491 series, with props to trifecta-winner Collin Lavery, Glory collected a clean sweep over Flamboyant. Moving on to the challengers, Dustin Schmeltz with his slightly-off 464 series inspired Flamboyant despite his team getting swept. Glory Bowl climbs 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Flamboyant remains in 4th.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: With the scales heavily tipped in one team's favor from the outset, the wicked ChuckaScoot entered a showdown to the death with the rascally Splits & Giggles. Propelled by the skills of Ian Goetz with his above-average 581 series, Scoot Chuckers loaded up with a clean sweep over Giggles. As this was happening, JoAnne Barber with her 414 series propped up Giggles despite her team getting swept. ChuckaScoot remains in 1st place, while Giggles remain in 6th.

Switching things up a bit: At the conclusion of bowling next Tuesday, the teams who are in first and second place will choose whether the final week of bowling will be played with left-to-right lane assignments (first place to last place) or from right to left. Both teams must come to a unanimous decision among all present members. If the decision is not unanimous, we will default to the standard left-to-right configuration for the final week of bowling.

Bowlers who were on the list for The 200 Club include: Dennis Walling (202), Ian Goetz (203), and Seth Gunderson (208)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Dennis Walling came closest), while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though AJ Hofmann came closest). Nobody claimed victory in Division 3, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 3 as it was a complete embarassment, and Collin Lavery triumphed over his enemies in Division 4. In terms of overall points: Matthew Taylor is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Dustin Schmeltz governs Division 2; JoAnne Barber dominates Division 3; and Collin Lavery calls the shots for Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 4th-place Flamboyant Fluffykins (hcp 157) will share a couple of pitchers with 1st-place ChuckaScoot. Flamboyant is expected to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Scoot Chuckers are forecast to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 6th-place Splits & Giggles (hcp 48) will throw some gutter balls with 5th-place The Wally McWallingtons. Giggles might roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while The McWallingtons ought to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Glory Bowl (hcp 94) will hang out with 3rd-place Going, Going, BALD!. Glory is predicted to have a bit of an off night and get swept; while Baldness are anticipated to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

REMINDER: Next week is the bowling fee payment deadline! All bowling fees for the season must be paid in full next Tuesday unless other arrangements are made personally with AJ or Scott.
