Well, the first season of our second 20 years sure was not what anyone expected. Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died. Brexit. The brink of war with Iran. The Chiefs won the Superbowl. We had a parade.
With the season cut so short (only 8 weeks successfully rolled) and many of our awards requiring a minimum of 11 weeks and others requiring the full season, we have made the decision to not pay out any prize money for this season. Instead, unless you had unpaid lineage fees for weeks 1-8, we will soon begin refunding each of you the prize fund money you already contributed, as well as 100% of any money you had paid ahead. We will begin contacting each of you in the coming days, starting with those getting the largest refunds.
Again, with the season cut short, there are few stats we can compare against past seasons. However we were on pace for 10th-best season ever in terms of leaue average and also in terms of the number of 200+ games. Also, in week 1 Carolina Mach rolled the 5th highest women's scratch game in league history with a 215, and Ken M. Wilson became the third bowler to reach a quarter million career pins. Shortly thereafter Aaron Barber reached 100,000 pins.
We are holding onto hope that we will be able to reconvene for the Fall Season, and will begin contacting bowlers mid-summer.
Though none of these officially count, here's where we wound up at the end of week 8
