Welcome to the Spring 2025 bowling season! We start bowling on January, same location and same time as usual. You can submit roster changes until Monday and team names until noon Tuesday.
While two teams remain intact, for the first time in quite a while there are major changes throughout the league. We have a whopping FIVE rookies this season, and a 6th bowler who is returning after a 9-year absence! Here's a rundown of all the new teams, in order of team number:
- Squid Row remains identical.
- On AJ's yet unnamed team From the distant past, Tim Deddens - returning after last bowling in 2016 - replaces Dustin Schmeltz (who has moved to another team).
- On Bowls Deep - Sadly Kent Harms and Nicholas Knight have departed the team. The team remains a 5-man rotator, with Fall 2023 former sub Kurt Fredrickson and new bowler Ian Estey replacing the two who left. Brian Schaben takes over the role of Captain.
- On Nathan's yet unnamed team that is replacing the Sun Dolphins we find Nathan Burrows and Dustin Schmeltz, along with new league members Cat Atwood and Scott Lawson. Welcome!
- Seth's yet unnamed team remains identical apart from whatever ridiculous name they come up with.
- Having lost Nathan to the team just above, JoAnne's yet unnamed team replaces him with new league member Jacob Holst. Welcome!
After the league voted to increase fees to restore the prize fund, fees are $285 per person if paid throughout the season, or $245 if paid in advance. For those of you on rotating teams of 5 — what we need from you is the equivalent payment of four bowlers since only 4 of you can bowl at a time. So $228 if you pay throughout the season, or $196 if you pay in advance. FOR EITHER TEAM SIZE, the deadline to get the pre-pay discount is Week 3. Send your payments via Venmo to @scooterjm and if you are asked to enter the last 4 digits of a telephone number, use 4466. Or scan the QR code shown here.
Things to look forward to this season:
- Barely missing it last season because he missed one game to watch his daughter sing, unless he severely sandbags Seth Gunderson will cross 250,000 career pins by the middle of his first game this season.
- Sometime around the middle of this season Aaron Barber should pass Kody Karnes to take over the #3 spot for league career 200+ games, and Seth Gunderson could reach 250 career 200+ games this season if he works at it.
We hope you all have a great time this season, even if you finish in last place! (Gonna be weird for that to not be Sun Dolphins.)
