It was a Dark and Stormy Frame

Posted by BowlingBot August 27, 2024 Fall 2024, Week 1 View Score Sheets

The Fall 2024 season has kicked off with a thunderous start, as six determined teams enter the 16-week battle for the elusive, imaginary championship trophy. With a massive electrical storm outside and electrical issues of our own inside killing the scoreboards just 30 minutes into bowling, the atmosphere was charged as one bowler shattered their personal best game. Meanwhile JoAnne Barber stormed the lanes to claim this week's high game (113) and series (335) for the woman, while Aaron Barber unleashed a whirlwind performance, taking the men's high game (200) and series (561). And Bingo was dominated this week by Seth and Buck. Dive into the drama as the pins fell like a flash flood and Lane 1 issues slowed things down like the Royals lightning delay!

Breakdown and aftermath of the most epic fall in league history - Game 3 Frame 10 - click to see the blood better

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Squid Row faced off against the Sun Dolphins. With Ben Spencer anchoring Squid Row's efforts with a powerful 520 series, they weathered the storm and secured 3 solid wins against the Sun Dolphins. Meanwhile, Ryan Sisco led the Dolphins valiantly with a 418 series, but the tide was against them, leaving them with just one win as well as one fin injury. The Squids sailed into 2nd place, while the Dolphins swam into 4th, struggling to keep sharks away as their blood spilled in the water.

On lanes 3 & 4: The underdog Unnamed Team 3 (aka Just Scoot Tonight) squared off against the mischievous Scootytang. Despite Scott Murdock’s valiant (only in that it was better than a blind) 411 series, the Unnamed were caught in a whirlwind as Scootytang swept them him clean off their his feet. With #1 Power-Ranked Aaron Barber leading the charge with his formidable 561 series, Scootytang rolled to a commanding start. The Unnamed are left devastated, finding themselves drenched in 6th place, while Scootytang storms into 1st, riding high on the winds of victory.

The pin thief was stopped... THIS time.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: Unnamed Team 5 took on Stealing Pins in the Burrows. Charging into the fray with the force of a hurricane, #1 Head-to-Head Kent Harms and his mighty 543 series guided Unnamed Team 5 to claim 3 wins against Stealing Pins. Despite the best efforts of Jeremy Varnell, who delivered a 349 series for Stealing Pins, they were unable to steal more than a single victory. Unnamed Team 5 emerges in 3rd place, while Stealing Pins burrow into 5th, hoping the storm will pass.

A new personal best series was rolled tonight by Buck Nasty (457, previous best 447).

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 3rd-place Unnamed Team 5 (estimated hcp 118) will meet with 1st-place Scootytang. is expected to maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Scootytang is forecast to see their team average take a dive while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 2nd-place Squid Row will throw some gutter balls with 5th-place Stealing Pins in the Burrows (estimated estimated hcp 116). Bowling Calimari might roll a little low, but split the series with Stealing Pins; while Stealing Pins ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 4th-place Sun Dolphins will socialize with 6th-place Unnamed Team 3 (estimated hcp 178). is predicted to have a bit of an off night and get swept; while is anticipated to catapult their team average they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
