On his final roll of the night, Matthew Taylor accidentally released from the wrong hand. Nothing to worry about though, he still got a strike and Della's first sentence after sliding back down the ball return was "Da-da, again!'"

The second week of Fall 2022 saw the two usual teams show their first early signs of taking their first steps to the championship. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (181) and series (387) for the women. As for the men, Nick Kinney snagged this week's high game with a 235, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 648. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: With only two members present, AJ's Minions took a risk by allowing a not-yet-used sub for the opposing I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter to roll on their own team. The gamble paid off. Led by Scott Murdock with his 486 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Jeromy Harris, collected 3 wins against the gutterial nonbelievers. Over on the other side, James Tott with his exceptional 491 series reigned supreme within the Nonbelievers despite his team notching only a single win. AJ's Minions leap 2 spots in the standings to 3rd place, while the Nonbelievers sink 1 spot to 5th.

On lanes 3 & 4: Baby Beardo shared a platter of cheese sticks with Glory Bowl. Featuring "Not Carl" Goetz with his 634 series, the Beardettes collected 3 wins against the Glorious. (It's a damn shame that was Not Carl, because that was some pretty nice roling.) On the adjacent lane, Brett Affolter with his better-than-normal 539 series took the lead among the Glorious despite his team notching only a single win. Baby Beardo remains in 1st place, while the Glorious plunge 2 spots to 4th.

Finally, in the slowest matchup of the night down on lanes 5 & 6: Balderdash sparred with Sun Dolphins. Headlined by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Matthew Taylor and his death-defying and baby-hoisting 648 series, the balder dashers collected a clean sweep over the Dolphins. As this was happening, Ryan Sisco with his 446 series (including his new league personal-best game of 221, followed immediately by a 98 earning him 16th place in biggest swings between games in league history) inspired the Dolphins despite his team getting swept. Also noteworthy in this matchup, JC Cox rolled the same score all 3 games. Out of 18,306 non-blind bowling series we have recorded to-date, this is only the 6th time that has ever happened. In fact the last person to do it was Joe Longstreet back on Feb 15, 2011. Balderdash leaps 4 spots in the standings to 2nd place, while the Dolphins plunge 3 spots to 6th.

Bowlers who stripped naked and shared a cozy hot tub together in a back room at The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (219,203,212), Dennis Walling (214), James Tott (207), Jonathan Vigliaturo (217), Matthew Taylor (226,225), Michael Gordon (207), Nick Kinney (235,202), and Ryan Sisco (221). I think we all need a cold shower after visualizing that.

A new personal high game was set tonight by Ryan Sisco (221, previous best 165).

JoAnne Barber earned this season's women's high game with her 181. In addition, Nick Kinney nabbed this season's men's high game with his 235, while Matthew Taylor (with two assists from Della) bagged the season's men's high series with his 648.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 6th-place Sun Dolphins (estimated estimated hcp 194) will tussle with 1st-place Baby Beardo. The Dolphins are expected to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Beardettes are forecast to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 2nd-place Balderdash will spend some quality time with 3rd-place AJ's Minions (hcp 102). The balder dashers might roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the minions ought to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 4th-place Glory Bowl will compete against 5th-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter (hcp 61). The Glorious are predicted to have a bit of an off night, but split the series with the Nonbelievers; while the Nonbelievers are anticipated to hold steady as they keep the series tied.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

Jo Correia, to James Tott, waiting for him to tell her how many pins to key in as his score.

"Isn't he a little old for you to be hitting on him like that?" quipped Varnell.
