Scoot is heading out of town and is a bit rushed, so this will be a quick and dirty recap. The eighth week saw two teams climb in the standings, while one team slipped. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (139) and series (353) for the woman. As for the men, Scott Murdock (!?!) snagged this week's high game with a 247, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 640. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 21 & 22: Smokin Js entered a doomed (and very, very long by pandemic-bowling standards) showdown to the death with Gordon Michael's Groupies. Though somewhat emboldened by Jeremy Varnell with his 402 series, Smokin got swept by Groupies. Over on the victorious side, Matthew Taylor with his 640 series shone in Groupies (benefitted greatly by trifecta-winner #1 Power-Ranked, #1 Head-to-Head, and Most Valuable Bowler Dennis Walling) as they swept the competition. Smokin Js plummet 3 spots in the standings to 5th place, while Groupies move up 1 spot to 2nd.

On lanes 23 & 24: Raining Chimps did battle with Larry, I'm On Ducktales. Bowling alone, AJ Hofmann represented the Chimps with his 491 series. Though the Chimps accomplished only 1 win against Ducktales, honestly AJ was please at at least accomplish that. Meanwhile Michael Gordon with his 624 series motivated Ducktales as his team took the match with 3 wins. Raining Chimps remains in 6th place, while Ducktales remain in 1st.

Finally, down on lanes 25 & 26: A well-matched pair of rivals gathered as the younger half of Name Coming, Curtis Said had a rendezvous with Gimme Some Of Your Totts. Though solo headliner Michael Whiles was on track with his 433 series, TBD accomplished only 1 win against Gimme Totts. Simultaneously, after a shaky start Scott Murdock with his better-than-normal 554 series guided Gimme Totts as his team took the match with 3 wins. Name Coming, Curtis Said remains in 4th place, while Gimme Totts jump 2 spots to 3rd.

A new personal high game was set tonight by Scott Murdock (247, previous best 245).

After a hard fought season, the Tournament of Champions was won tonight by AJ Hofmann (Division 2), with Jeremy Varnell (Division 2) landing in second place. AJ will pocket the nice first-place pot, while Jeremy will take away the second-place pot. Congratulations!

NEXT WEEK:

• First, on who knows what lanes, 6th-place Raining Chimps (hcp 5) will test their mettle against 3rd-place Gimme Some Of Your Totts. Chimps are expected to roll a little low, but split the series with Gimme Totts; while Gimme Totts are forecast to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
• Moving to lanes the next set of mystery lanes, 5th-place Smokin Js (hcp 48) will socialize with 4th-place Name Coming, Curtis Said. Smokin might roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while TBD ought to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
• Finally, on lanes whatever and whatever+1, 2nd-place Gordon Michael's Groupies (hcp 6) will challenge 1st-place Larry, I'm On Ducktales. Groupies are predicted to roll decently and win the series; while Ducktales are anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
