Sweepage!

Posted by ScooterJ November 19, 2019 Fall 2019, Week 14 View Score Sheets

As the Fall 2019 season draws closer to its conclusion, a bowling session that went almost exactly as predicted saw four sets of sweeps that led to... no change in the standings except for a flip of the bottom two positions. However, three bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 151, and women's high series was bagged by Alison Radke with a 402. As for the men, Ben Spencer snagged this week's high game with a 235, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 637. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 3 & 4: A largely vacant Scared Splitless appeared to lose all hope and succumbed quickly to an ass-kicking from C.I.C.K. Ass 2. A once-again all alone Curtis Whiles with his (we'll call it sandbagging) 345 series produced the only actually-rolled points for his team as Splitless got swept by CICK. Meanwhile Carl Goetz with his better-than-normal 637 series oversaw CICK as they swept the competition. Scared Splitless drop 1 spot in the standings to 8th place, while CICK remains in 3rd. C.I.C.K. Ass 2 is still mathematically in the running for the championship, but lagging 7 games behind first place they need to win 3 next week and at the same time win 3 more games than See You Next Tuesday to avoid elimination.

Conor Clarke teaches James Tott how to sweep.

On lanes 5 & 6: Though the scales were heavily tipped in their favor from the outset, the cruel Pin Is King 2 found it harder than it should have been to outperform the rascally Rear Admirals. If not for a stunning performance by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Ben Spencer and his magnificent 630 series (his first 600+ series, which included a tie of his all-time personal best game of 235), the Kings likely would not have won a clean sweep over Admirals. On the losing side, Scott Murdock was the best loser with his better-than-normal 542 series. Pin Is King 2 remains in 2nd place, while Admirals remain in 6th. Though Pin Is King 2 cannot clinch the championship next week, they can be eliminated next week if See You Next Tuesday wins two more games than Kings do.

On lanes 7 & 8: Though this was only matchup that wasn't grossly lopsided, Bowl Movements also pulled off a surprise sweep with their victories over The James Tott Center for Kids Who Can't Bowl Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Too. Uniting behind the leadership of Most Valuable Bowler Conor Clarke (enjoying a third consecutive week of great bowling) and his remarkable 589 series, Movements loaded up with a clean sweep over James Tott School for B's. In the meantime, James Tott with his fantastic 562 series called the shots for the School for B's despite his team getting swept. Bowl Movements climb 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while James Tott School for B's remain in 5th. (And I would like to take a moment here to apologize to Conor Clark for completely missing and failing to call out his first league 600+ series last week.)

Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: BDE is probably relieved they won't have to see See you next Tuesday! next Tuesday. Although charging into the fray behind Jeremy Cline with his 541 series, BDE got swept by Tuesday. Hoping for MVB but getting dinged due to only hitting his average in his first game, Aaron Barber with his better-than-normal 621 series reigned supreme within Next Tuesday as they swept the competition. Visit http://swipenclean.com. BDE remains in 4th place, while Next Tuesday remains in 1st. Next Tuesday can get an early clinch of the championship next week by winning at least 2 games, provided that they also win one more game than Pin Is King 2.

Bowlers vomiting then passing out in the restroom of The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (214,229), Ben Spencer (202,235), Carl Goetz (224,227), Conor Clarke (210,204), Dennis Walling (212), Ian Goetz (201), James Tott (225), Ken M. Wilson (211,202), and Scott Murdock (214)

A new personal high game was set tonight by James Tott (225, previous best 223). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Dennis Cummings (401, previous best 384), Ben Spencer (630, previous best 581), and James Tott (562, previous best 560).

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Aaron Barber mopped up Division 1, while Ben Spencer walloped Division 2. Conor Clarke triumphed over his enemies in Division 3, and Jared Nuhn rolled his ass to the top of Division 4. In terms of overall points: Michael Gordon dominates Division 1; Scott Murdock leads Division 2; Conor Clarke reigns over Division 3; and Jared Nuhn tops Division 4.

REMINDER: Next week is the bowling fee payment deadline! All bowling fees for the season must be paid in full next Tuesday unless other arrangements are made personally with AJ or Scott. (With a couple of exceptions, most of the people who need to pay next week are the people who were not here this week.)

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 3&4, 7th-place Bowl Movements (hcp 49) will throw some gutter balls with 4th-place BDE. Movements are expected to perform well and sweep the series; while BDE is forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 5&6, 1st-place See you next Tuesday! will face 5th-place The James Tott Center for Kids Who Can't Bowl Good and Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Too (hcp 117). Next Tuesday might maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while James Tott School for B's ought to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Then, over on lanes 7&8, 2nd-place Pin Is King 2 (hcp 61) will tussle with 3rd-place C.I.C.K. Ass 2. Kings will likely have a bit of an off night and get swept; while CICK will probably drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.
  • Finally, on lanes 9&10, 8th-place Scared Splitless (estimated hcp 24) will spend some quality time with 6th-place Rear Admirals. Splitless are predicted to roll a little low and get swept; while Admirals are anticipated to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
