As we enter the back side of the season, we find the standings constipated with absolutely no movement. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game, and one of those two also set an inauspicious league record. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (224) and series (562) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (245) and series (638) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 3 & 4: In a battle of good against evil, the minions of Satan making up Mary Janes Last Frame had a romantic candlelight dinner with the endearing Three Strikes and a Spare. Featuring surprise Most Valuable Bowler Dennis Walling and his 573 series despite injury, Mary Jane split the series with Three Strikes. Meanwhile, Monica Hufford with her better-than-normal 514 series propped up Three Strikes as they matched their opponent in wins. Mary Janes Last Frame remains in 5th place, while Three Strikes remain in 8th.
On lanes 5 & 6: Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! waged a not-so- heated competition against Sit Down, Be Humbowl. With no one hitting their average, Dennis Laube led the Sandbaggers to a single win with his below-average 451 series. Flipping things around, Brian Byfield with his better-than-normal 446 series inspired Humbowl as his team took the match with 3 wins. Brian's series also included a new personal best game of 226, and he might have also set a new personal best series as well had he not instead set the new league record for biggest score drop across the course of a series. Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! remains in 6th place, while Humbowl remains in 7th.
On lanes 7 & 8: The, the villainous HOF Sandwich turned this week's predictions upside-down against hopeful darlings PBR Me, ASAP. Although topped by Angela Bradford with her above-average 562 series, the Sandwich shockingly got devoured by PBR. How? Well, #1 Head-to-Head Jeremy Varnell and his better-than-normal 479 series emboldened PBR as they obliterated the competition. HOF Sandwich remains in 3rd place, while PBR remains in 4th. Jeremy was later seen picking HOF Sandwich crumbs out of his beard.
Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: We find a pairing of virtually equal strengths, as WITNESS!!! sparred with Splitbowl Countries. With top billing by Aaron Barber with his above-average 638 series, Witness!!! collected 3 wins against Splitbowl. Countering this, Matthew Taylor with his 609 series commanded Splitbowl (with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Scott Murdock) despite his team notching only a single win. WITNESS!!! remains in 1st place though extends their lead, while Splitbowl remains in 2nd.
Bowlers who stripped naked and shared a cozy hottub together in a back room at The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (245,215), Angela Bradford (224), Bob Brunker (206), Brian Byfield (226), Kody Karnes (209), Matthew Taylor (202,215), Michael Gordon (200), Michael Mead (202), Scott Murdock (207,204), and Seth Gunderson (229)
A new personal high game was set tonight by Brian Byfield (226, previous best 191). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Jeremy Varnell (479, previous best 452).
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Aaron Barber came closest), while Scott Murdock routed Division 2. Freda Schroeder crushed Division 3, and Josh Rothermel staked a claim for the Iron Throne in Division 4. In terms of overall points: Aaron Barber holds the reins in Division 1; Nick Kinney, Phil Schroeder, Scott Murdock, and Dennis Laube lead Division 2 in a tie; Jonathan Vigliaturo dominates Division 3; and Emily Nicolet runs the show in Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 3&4, 2nd-place Splitbowl Countries will roll against 4th-place PBR Me, ASAP (hcp 152). Splitbowl is expected to roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while PBR is forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
- Moving to lanes 5&6, 1st-place WITNESS!!! will spend some quality time with 3rd-place HOF Sandwich (hcp 3). Witness!!! might roll a little low and get swept; while the Sandwich ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Then, over on lanes 7&8, 5th-place Mary Janes Last Frame will test their mettle against 6th-place Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! (hcp 48). Mary Jane will likely have a bit of an off night and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Sandbaggers will probably hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
- Finally, on lanes 9&10, 8th-place Three Strikes and a Spare (hcp 68) will face 7th-place Sit Down, Be Humbowl. Three Strikes are predicted to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Humbowl is anticipated to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
