Finally, A Leader Emerges

Posted by ScooterJ October 24, 2017 Fall 2017, Week 10 View Score Sheets

Our position round has brought us a first in the Fall 2017 Seasoon. For the first time this season, a team has moved into first place that has more than just a 1-game lead!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: NotContra sparred with Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Led by Aaron Barber and his 563 series, a pouty and sad NotContra managed only 1 win against Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Meanwhile, led by #1 Power Ranked Phil Schroeder and his ridiculously good 615 series, Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! secured 3 wins. NotContra drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! moves up 1 spot to 1st.

On lanes 3 & 4: 3/4 of The Alt-Left snuggled up with 3/4 pf Less Terra Bowl. Led by Lefty Ian Goetz and his 542 series (including a left-handed best 210 game), The Alt-Left split the series with Less Terra Bowl. Meanwhile, #1 Head-to-Head Matthew Taylor and his phenomenal, league-leading 665 series (with an assist by Scott Murdock's new personal best 245 game) led Less Terra Bowl in a stalemate. The Alt-Left remains in 3rd place, while Less Terra Bowl drops 1 spot to 5th.

Important hygiene tips, for the Jr. High boy in all of us.

On lanes 5 & 6: Mustache Cash Stash spent a romantic evening with Bowl Yer Ballz Off. Michael Mead and his back-to-form 657 series helped Mustache Cash Stash earn their first clean sweep of the season, over Bowl Yer Ballz Off. Meanwhile, despite Rob Kaszuba's 456 series, Bowl Yer Ballz Off got swept. Mustache Cash Stash climbs 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while Bowl Yer Ballz Off remains in 6th.

On lanes 7 & 8: Brooklyn Strikers shared a few beers with Roll, Drink, Repeat. In spite of a team leading series by Steven Anthony (492), Brooklyn Strikers got swept by Roll. That's because, Most Valuable Bowler Sean Simmons rolled a new personal best 613 series to lead Drink in a sweep. Repeat. Brooklyn Strikers drops 1 spot in the standings to 8th place, while Roll, Drink, Repeat moves up 1 spot to 7th.

Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: DB's Rusty Nuts exchanged nervous glances with Split It & Hit It. Led by Josh Rothermel and his 383 series, DB's Rusty Nuts managed only 1 win against Split It & Hit It. Meanwhile, led by Dennis Blake and his 545 series, Split It & Hit It landed 3 wins. DB's Rusty Nuts drops 1 spot in the standings to 10th place, while Split It & Hit It moves up 1 spot to 9th. This is what happens when the bowling alley runs out of PBR.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Matthew Taylor mopped up Division 1, while Sean Simmons dominated Division 2. Lefty Ian Goetz ruled Division 3, and JoAnne Barber conquered Division 4. Finally, Michael Mead (Division 1) spanked this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: Aaron Barber holds the reins in Division 1; Jason Carpio is in the driver's seat in Division 2; Freda Schroeder tops Division 3; and JoAnne Barber runs the show in Division 4.
