Led By The Lefties

Posted by ScooterJ September 5, 2017 Fall 2017, Week 3 View Score Sheets

The men of The Alt-Left left the bowling alley tonight so certain they had moved into first place that they even posed for this week's cover photo. But they apparently forgot we had expanded from 8 teams to 10 and didn't notice that a scoresheet at the far end was still being calculated. While the Alt-Left is still in a standings tie for first, total pins technically gives first place to Bowl Yer Ballz Off. What does this mean for the league? Well, it means that the two teams that feature right-handed bowlers who are bowling left-handed this season are leaving the rest of us in the dust. Have they uncovered a shocking new bowling secret???

Due to Scoot needing to do a lot of programming to get the Tournament of Champions ready for next week, most of the rest of tonight's writeup is computer-generated. Sorry about that!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! did battle with Mustache Cash Stash. Led by Aubrey Moren and his 514 series, Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! managed only 1 win against Mustache Cash Stash. Meanwhile, led by #1 Head-to-Head bowler Michael Mead and his 653 series, Mustache Cash Stash secured 3 wins. Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! remains in 6th place, while Mustache Cash Stash sinks 2 spots to 3rd.

On lanes 3 & 4: The Alt-Left was challenged by Roll, Drink, Repeat. Led by Most Valuable Bowler Lefty Ian Goetz and his 448 series, The Alt-Left secured a clean sweep over Roll, Drink, Repeat. Across the ball return, Sean Simmons's 483 series wasn't enough to keep Roll, Drink, Repeat from getting swept. The Alt-Left climbs 2 spots in the standings to 2nd place, while Roll, Drink, Repeat drops 1 spot to 9th.

On lanes 5 & 6: NotContra celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with JG's Rusty Nuts. Aaron Barber and his 546 series helped NotContra grab 3 wins from JG's Rusty Nuts. Josh Rothermel fought back with a 404 series, but JG's Rusty Nuts could only snag 1 win. NotContra drops 2 spots in the standings to 4th place, while JG's Rusty Nuts remains in 7th.

On lanes 7 & 8: Less Terra Bowl shared a few beers with Brooklyn Strikers. Rookie sensation Matthew Taylor and his 582 series drove Less Terra Bowl to rack up 3 wins against Brooklyn Strikers. Meanwhile, led by rookie sensation in-training Brian Byfield and his 386 series (the old nerd in me just realized he's too young to have ever known what a 386 was), Brooklyn Strikers debuted with just 1 win. Less Terra Bowl remains in 5th place, while Brooklyn Strikers moves up 1 spot to 8th.

Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: Split It & Hit It snuggled up with Bowl Yer Ballz Off. Led by Dennis Blake and his 547 series, Split It & Hit It got swept by Bowl Yer Ballz Off. Meanwhile, led by Rob Kaszuba and his 570 series (and assisted by #1 Power Ranked Chadwick Andrews), Bowl Yer Ballz Off earned themselves a clean sweep. Split It & Hit It remains in 10th place, while Bowl Yer Ballz Off jumps 2 spots to 1st.

I think we’re just pleased as punch that the lead story wasn’t about beer consumption…again. But, like you guys, we’re all about broken records.
