Getting Tighter

Posted by ScooterJ March 21, 2017 Spring 2017, Week 9 View Score Sheets

While the only position change in the standings tonight was a flip right in the very center of the lineup, the race for first place definitely became a lot more interesting as now only one game separates the top three teams. Who will have what it takes to come out ahead 7 weeks from now?

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: AJ Hofmann led FYWFK to 3 wins over Ebowla with his 478 series. Down two bowlers, Ebowla was able to manage only one win behind the 444 series of Sean Simmons. FYWFK remains in 6th place, while Ebowla drops 1 spot to 5th.

Speaking of things tightening up, Scott and JV each exchanged dual turkey humpings -- and hopefully exchanged nothing else.

On lanes 3 & 4: Terra Bowler welcomed a still-hobbling Dennis Cummings back with a clean sweep over Suckeredusintoit behind Scott Murdock's 507 series. Meanwhile sub Ric McBath, who almost landed tonight's gutter quote with his remark about thinking Dennis was very sleepy, led the Suckered with his 325 series. Terra Bowler climbs 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while Suckeredusintoit remains in 8th.

On lanes 5 & 6: Omaha Hambone has some major bones to pick with themselves after dropping three games to Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Led by Michael Mead and his 617 series, Omaha Hambone managed only 1 win against the Sandbaggers. Meanwhile, Aubrey Moren took his team to 3 wins with his 552 series. Omaha Hambone remains in 1st place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! remains in 3rd.

Finally, down on lanes 7 & 8: Frankee's Uncles likely thought they would have an easy time combing over Trump's Toupee. However trifecta-winner Dustin Schmeltz had other plans, putting up a 590 series (including a 256 game) to fight back. Meanwhile the Uncles were led Ken M. Wilson and his 612 series. Though neither effort brought about true victory, each side held the other back enough to split the series. Frankee's Uncles remains in 2nd place, while Trump's Toupee remains in 7th.

This week in Tournament of Champions: In Division 1, though Michael Mean won this week's bracket, Ken Wilson extended his lead. Division 2 saw Jonathan Vigliaturo leap into first place. Division 3 was ruled by Dennis Laube, who I think we can now officially say is running away with it. Division 4 was stricken with a great deal of blindness this week, with the 1 point earned by Chantal Jacot being the only thing on the board. This was still enough to move her into a tie for first with James Tott.

Bowlers springing into The 200 Club this week include: Aubrey Moren (216), Carl Goetz (213), Dennis Laube (205), Dustin Schmeltz (256), Ken M. Wilson (224,204), Michael Gordon (227), Michael Mead (213,236), Phil Schroeder (201), and Scott Murdock (231)

See you next week!

  FROM THE GUTTER (GUTTER QUOTE)
"I guess that means avoiding downtown again this week. All those KU people everywhere. KU people are terrible. Just awful people, with all of their... KU-ness."

James Tott, on learning that Sprint Center is hosting the Sweet Sixteen tournament.
